Tregaron Estate is one of the first estates in what is now the Cleveland Park neighborhood in Northwest Washington, D.C. It was built in 1912, the year the Titanic sank, and later occupied by a well-known cereal heiress. Now it's the Washington International School campus and a public conservancy. If you go, spend some time wandering around the campus. The old mansion is now a school building and you can even find the dacha (Russian summer house) the cereal heiress added to the campus. Also, spend time wandering the six trails part of the Tregaron Conservancy. One is paved for bikers and the other five are dirt paths through the woods leading to benches and a lily pond with goldfish. My toddler LOVED exploring the conservancy. It's free to enter.

I photographed this elopement at the Tregaron Conservatory in Washington, D.C., I have had the pleasure of capturing many intimate and beautiful ceremonies. But this one was special. As the couple stood on the lush green lawn, surrounded by towering trees and fragrant flowers, I could feel the love and emotion radiating from them. After the ceremony, I followed the couple as they strolled through the garden, capturing the golden light of the setting sun and the joy on their faces. It was clear that this was a day that they would always remember, a day that was just for them. As I left the conservatory and headed back to the city, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to witness and document such a special moment. ig @iamthesam

Wouldn't have made it through the pandemic without this place. You can always grab a quiet spot that seems completely unrelated to the rest of your city life. It's the best spot around here to reconnect with nature. Seeing the cicadas here this year was a marvel. And right now the frogs are so fun to see and hear. I have seen volunteers here regularly planting things and maintaining it. There was recently a crew updating some stone work. I want to express my gratitude to the people who keep this place magical.

Absolutely serene and beautiful! I came for the free Tregaron Unplugged music festival, and I had the most wonderful experience. There was a great variety of musical performances all throughout the park, and the staff was lovely (they even handed out free candy bars)! Wandering through a gorgeous natural landscape and discovering new musical talents and styles along the way was simply magical. It’s hard to believe a peaceful space like this exists in the middle of the city. I highly recommend visiting and enjoying the beautiful ambience, and please be sure to check out the free Washington Performing Arts events that are held...
