The food itself wasn’t bad, but the portion was far too small for the price. I paid $23 for a dish that came with just three small pieces of meat and some plain, bland vegetables that seemed to be boiled in water without any seasoning. The pricing might be understandable, but the lack of care and attention in the preparation was disappointing. I was also informed that a 20% service charge would be added. While not all restaurants in D.C. do this, I was told that this is not a tip, but rather a service fee for the staff. If that’s the case, then the level of service should reflect this charge—but unfortunately, the service provided today did not justify the fee. I don’t understand why restaurant owners shift the cost of hiring and paying staff onto customers under the justification of D.C. regulations. I’ve dined at many restaurants in the city, and this is only the second time I’ve encountered such a charge—both times at Asian restaurants, particularly Thai ones. This practice seems to be a recent trend, and I believe it will become a major reason for customers to avoid certain establishments. While every owner has the right to set their own policies, if you decide to implement a service charge, you should also ensure that better service is provided in return and that your staff is properly trained.

I cannot emphasize how overrated this restaurant is on Google.

I have ordered from here twice - both times getting the drunken noodles - and both have been awful experiences.

The first resulted in food poisoning that kept me glued the to toilet for the rest of the night. This was surprising, as the dish was really good! Absolutely not worth it with respect to the after experience, though.

The second time I ordered the drunken noodles, the level of spice that they added to the dish was insane and made it completely inedible for me. I was expecting a similar level of spice as the first order, which was the perfect level for this dish. I understand this dish is supposed to be spicy, but this second order was unbearable.

Usually, Thai restaurants will ask you what level of spice you want, or assume a reasonable level per the American standards of the dish. I understand drunken noodles is meant to have a kick, but the level of spice in the second order was unbearable to the point I could not eat it.

My GF, who has a much higher spice tolerance than me, agreed that it was even too spicy for her tastes.

This place has absolutely no quality control regarding their food, and I have now wasted two entire meals - one to the toilet, and the other to the trash can, because either the food quality was extremely poor or the dish was simply too spicy to eat. If they are not standardizing the level of spice of the dish and not asking customers what level of spice they would like, it really shows how little they care about making quality food, and how little they value their customers.

On top of this, my girlfriends pad Thai order was straight up not good, and prepared in an untraditional fashion.

To add further legitimacy to my claim, I have never experienced this level of service negligence from any Thai restaurant ever, and to add even further context, my GF is actually Thai, so she understands the requirements of these dishes and how they are supposed to be prepared.

Overall, this is an absolutely awful establishment that does not care about their food quality, does not care about their customer needs (or simply standardizing dishes), and is unbelievably overrated. Not to mention the restaurant was quite dirty both times I visited.

DO NOT COME HERE. THE POSITIVE REVIEWS ARE NOT REFLECTIVE OF THE EXPERIENCE YOU WILL RECEIVE.

In conclusion, this is simply an awful business that I will not be...

We were regular customers for years but had such a bad experience that we are done with this place.

About a year ago, some friends put together a meal train for us because we were having a baby. Our first meal back from the hospital was supposed to be from Siam House, one of our favorites.

A NY-based friend ordered a bunch of food for us, including some favorites and a surprise dish he thought we would like.

He texts me to tell me he ordered us dinner, which was going to be an amazing welcome change after a few days of hospital food.

Due to an error by the staff at Siam House, they ended up charging him $1.80 less than they meant to, transposing two numbers. They then do not do anything about this - they do not take it out of the tip, they do not call him, they do not charge his card, they do not call us.

An hour or so after expecting food, I text my friend back to make sure he ordered us dinner. My wife is pretty hungry at this point but we have almost nothing in the fridge. He tells me he ordered and then checks his bank account. Lo and behold, the charge is there.

I figure maybe it is a busy night and the order is just late, so I call to check on the order, giving a little explanation about just getting back from the hospital, we can't wait to come in and see everyone there with our baby. They tell me that the food is ready but because of the $1.80 discrepancy they need a credit card number to make up that deficiency before delivery. I really thought this was a joke at first. When I find out nope, they were just going to let that cooked food sit in a bag all night rather than contact anyone about it or even deliver it and eat the $1.80 due to their mistake, I am a little surprised. I present the wide variety of solutions to the problem they created, including refunding my friend. All impossible for various illogical reasons.

So I pony up the $1.80 on my credit card. An hour and a half later, the food arrived. We had already eaten peanut butter sandwiches because we were very, very hungry.

When we want Thai food in Cleveland Park, we go to a different restaurant.

Edited to add that we are glad we have given up on this place based on the gaslighting response to the review. I wish there was a way to give zero stars...

A place that calls their costumers liars is not worthy of any business. I have ordered takeout from here 2x and had no issue (which is why I am giving 2 stars instead of 1) I called to order takeout at 9:15pm on a Saturday when they open until 9:30pm—In my experience as a Chef in DC, when the kitchen is still open its best to accommodate your guests, however, with 15 minutes left to I understand the restaurant might be getting ready to close which is why I asked when I called, if it is still possible to fulfill the order, and have it picked up in ten minutes. The woman on the phone told me it was definitely possible, took my order, even asked what I wanted to have it with (this was a chicken curry with rice) and then confirmed that the order would be ready for pick up in 10-15 minutes. As I was steps away from the restaurant they called me and this is what they said: “we have cancelled your order because you said you didn’t want anything” I was clueless! they called to tell me I had said I didn’t want anything and so they cancelled my order? that fact that they called me to tell me that, proves this never happened in the first place. Then the woman proceeded to try to convince me that I said what I didn’t implying I was asking about something being gluten free to refresh my memory, this never happened. I even thought they might be confused with someone else but then read my order back to me. I realized they probably felt bad about confirming my order so they tried to cover up their mistake in the most embarrassing way possible. I get it, mistakes happen, but you should never try to deceive your guests. This is why I am never getting food from here again, and I will make sure anyone I know...
