Island Beach — Attraction in Watsonville Water Treatment Plant

Unexpectedly a nice dog friendly beach! We were actually on our way to Carmel but the traffic going there was at a standstill so we decided to change our route and we are glad we did! It was a hot day everywhere else in South Bay Area so everyone was trying to head to the cool beaches. We arrived at this one around 10:30am on a Saturday and there seemed to be easy free parking on the street. Walk down the nice small boardwalk and you’ll see a larger beach area with the coarse type of sand. We enjoyed it very much. Island Beach is a very accessible beach on the Island in Moss Landing. Park along the street at the end of Sandholdt Road (do not block gates or driveways). The short boardwalk makes walking to the beach easy. The beach is less busy now that Phil’s Fish Market is no longer located on the island.
