With baby otters 🦦 year round, we had many sightings of various aged pups on our trip.

We had gorgeous weather leaving at 11:00am on a Friday in late October. Wonderful Great White herons, seals and pelicans were seen in abundance. The guide was very informative and pointed out every (yes every) otter 🦦 in the estuary that was near us. (She said population has been a steady 140 for several years). She shared that Momma's have to eat half their weight daily in addition to feeding and caring for a pup. Otters have just one at a time, and it's a challenge. Individually they have different favorite foods and pass those preferences to their pups. I especially like that the tour observes the rule to not interfere with wildlife behavior. The kayak tours were less compliant sadly. This electric catamaran and the tour on the Elkhorn Slough, in Moss Landing, CA, is fun for all: Gramma to 13 year olds will be comfortable on this tour. There are no gasoline fumes from a motor.

The sea otters 🦦 naturally steal the show! I especially love that their are so many birds 🦆 and the boat is quiet and can respectfully pass the wildlife with little impact!

Technically it is a catamaran, but feels like a boat.

Easy boat tour to see the sights of the slough. Very importantly it was environmentally a better choice. Bring binoculars or telephoto lens for closer viewing. This is an experience you will remember.

Short sleeves were fine when we left the dock. When returning, the boat captain said it would be a little breezy heading into the wind. Dress in layers. Bring sunscreen. One and a half hours was the perfect trip. Fog was rolling in as we returned to our cars after lunch.

There is a great restaurant called Phil's Fish and eatery...

Fantastic Voyage with Monterey Bay Eco Tours! 🌊🦦

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Five Stars!

Where do I even start with Monterey Bay Eco Tours? From beginning to end, our tour was nothing short of exceptional! I was blown away by the warm service, informative guides, and the abundance of marine life we encountered during our trip.

The staff greeted us with genuine smiles and waves, adding a personal touch that put us instantly at ease. Our naturalist was a treasure trove of knowledge, making our voyage educational and a whole lot of fun! She was passionate about the wildlife and her enthusiasm was contagious. I felt like we were taking part in a thrilling marine biology class at sea!

Monterey Bay did not disappoint with its vast array of aquatic wildlife. We had the pleasure of spotting playful sea otters, charming seals and charismatic sea lions. Oh, and let's not forget about the birds! Countless species were out in full force, making our day even more spectacular.

The catamaran was nothing short of perfect. I often get sea sick but this vessel was stable with zero rocking - a true godsend for those with a tendency towards sea sickness. The trip lasted an hour, but honestly, time flew as we were so engrossed in the stunning scenery and wildlife.

For future adventurers, I’d strongly recommend dressing in layers as the temperatures can vary on the boat. It's better to be prepared than shivering in the coastal breeze!

I would highly recommend Monterey Bay Eco Tours to anyone seeking a maritime adventure filled with knowledge, fun, and a dash of exhilaration. Whether you're a group of friends, family, or even solo, prepare to be blown away by this oceanic wonder. Sail away with Monterey Bay Eco Tours, you...

I hardly ever write reviews but I wanted to share this with other people who come to Monterey area to visit. This was an absolutely delightful experience for myself and my husband. We really enjoyed seeing all the wildlife that they were able to take us to during this tour. Basically there's a naturalist on the tour that will explain all the wildlife and point out where they are and and some basic information regarding the wildlife and the environment . The staff were really nice and easygoing which made it very relaxing. The tour is basically 1.5 hours to 2 hours long . We were lucky and hit great weather conditions so it wasn't very cold . I would definitely recommend bringing a very warm jacket like a down jacket and even a warm hat because I can see it would be very chilly if it wasn't sunny and warm like we had that day. The boat is brand spanking new so it is very clean . It is run electrically so it is very quiet and does not disturb the area with loud motors . We came out to see sea otters in Monterey and we were not disappointed. We were able to get really close to many and I saw too many to count . Of course there are other wildlife too but this review would be really long . It was exactly what we were looking for and very...

We had a wonderful tour with this company. Knowledgeable guides, Emily and Joey, on an electric powered catamaran which means no engine noise (or smell of fuel) to disturb the marine wildlife. We saw lots of otters, harbor seals, sea lions, pelicans, and even several eggyolk jellyfish. We had perfect weather too. Calm waters. Clean restrooms at dockside. If you want, there’s a restaurant right there too, for after-your enjoyment.

I have been on boat tours at the Elkhorn Slough in Moss Landing over a dozen times. In December 2020, I saw this new boat the El Cat from the shore and decided to give it a try some day. That opportunity came on a Sunday afternoon in mid June, 2021, as my wife and I arrived Moss Landing without any particular plan. However, somehow it was very foggy so that I understood that wildlife viewing could be a bit limited. This new boat is very nice with four rows of seats up front where you can easily sit 3 on each side, and there are additional seats by the wheel. It is powered by electric motors so that it is quite and smooth, without gasoline fumes. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. From a wildlife viewing and photography point of view, the main limitation of their trips is that they are all scheduled at 10, 11am or 2, 3pm, which is probably family friendly. However, the best time to view and photograph wildlife should be early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
