Stopped in Saturday afternoon July 15, 2023 around 4:30pm. One of our party became violently ill, vomiting almost non-stop for 12 hours after eating the Seafood Pasta Alfredo (prawns, squid, salmon in pasta and white sauce). It started about 45 minutes after eating here and was the only place we ate out. Another in our party had a few bites of the dish and got a stomach ache and felt "off". Tried calling the restaurant to let them know the next day (Sunday, July 16, 2023), Google maps lists them as open but no answer. Got an unavailable message like its a cell phone. Party of 5 and we also ordered fish & chips, calamari, shrimp burrito, and clam chowder in bread bowl. No other issues and the rest of the food was good, actually slightly above expectations due to decent portions, taste, variety of menu, and speed which food came out. PROS - Nice stop along highway 1 at Moss Landing, good reviews, large parking area, main location next to hwy 1 over the water in the harbor with close-up views of seals, otters, birds, kayakers, and passing boats. Indoor & outdoor seating, a small gift shop area and some local art for sale. Staff was friendly, but understandably busy on a Saturday afternoon. Order at the counter and seat yourself. Food came out surprisingly quickly and decent portions. Kitchen somewhat and see through to some preparation behind the counter where you order. Prices were as expected given a touristy highly traveled location. CONS - definitely whatever went wrong with the seafood pasta... I hope owners/management evaluates food storage/prep/freshness/sanitary practices. Staff was working mainly the kitchen and ordering counter while we were there, so lacking in cleanliness in the dining room. Crumbs on tables, condiments thrown together in a basket on the table, food and napkins on the floor, a dirty table sat waiting to be bussed the majority of the time we were there which wasn't pleasant to look at. Perhaps one or two staff to buss/clean tables and assist guests in the dining room, at least on busy weekends? Did see an employee wiping down one table while we were there. It was a nice stop that would have got high reviews, but sadly the cleanliness/illness factor definitely...
Read moreAn unassuming place on the coast of Moss landing. Usually gray overcast ominous clouds linger around this area. On a Saturday or a Sunday you can see kayakers and boarderss on the wharf. Make sure to bring a cozy jacket or sweater because it's known to be a bit chilly.
If you are an ocean dweller and get curious might want to bring your wetsuit if you get tempted in jumping into the Pacific Ocean you might have to cross a dune or two be aware of this.
Depending the time of the year you can see decaying sea lions washed up on the shore being cannibalized by seagull on the carcass. If you are not used to Ocean or sea smell get ready for a strong and heavy stench of seasonal yummy Monterey Bay aroma delights. Parking along the dunes it's a bit limited but if you don't mind walking you can find parking elsewhere. A huge car park located right next to the restaurant conveniently out of walks away from the wharf.
For lunch it was heavily busy there was a line it almost went out the door. Most people seem like they were locals since although the line was particularly long it was beans served expeditedly.
Indoor dining is available but very limited and if you are not used to the weather here it will be chilly for outdoor dining. An array of beverages including alcoholic beverages and sparkling mineral water.
He paid for me what's the combination of calamari fried prongs and fries with the side of clam chowder. Three sizes are available for the soups regular medium and large. Although the fried prongs and calamari were evenly cooked and breaded you were able to taste beef calamari. I preferred my clam chowder not at all too thick my spoon cut through it well. I don't know what you're talking now clam chowder serve too cold come be a bit difficult to swallow but this clam chowder were served mildly hot. The chunks of clam and chowder we're a perfect portion sat well on my spoon.
The staff were polite and very helpful and patient. Masks not required
After this delicious evenly well distributed meal I can say that the Sea harvest in Moss landing it's definitely a place I will come back with my family as well along the coast of...
Read moreMy husband and I dined at Sea Harvest yesterday, April 18th, and were really disappointed in our experience. We travel full-time, so we're always looking for fun, local places to eat along our travels, and this restaurant seemed to be well reviewed and on the water. We were traveling with our dog, so we were going to get takeout to eat in our RV. We arrived right at 11am, but ordering was a challenge as their register was down and they had to call tech support, so it took about 20 minutes just to place the order, but only about 10 minutes for the food to be prepared. My husband ordered a fish sandwich with sand dabs, which we had never had. I tasted a bite of his fish before he dug in, and it was actually pretty good - his fish had been battered and fried correctly. I ordered the combo and chips basket because it featured an assortment of fish, shrimp, and squid. My fish was so sad - it was two TINY pieces that were way more breading than fish. It wasn't even crispy, just wet, soggy batter. The shrimp were okay, also a bit too heavily battered and no seasoning in the batter. The squid was prepared differently than any other I have ever tried, the flavor was good, but the texture was not ideal. The fries were cold and limp, which is a pet peeve of mine any time, but especially to have just opened, I literally don't understand how this was possible. Also, I think it's worth noting that it was a very small portion for $20+. I understand prices have gone up on everything, but 2 pieces of fish the size of my little finger plus 3 shrimp just does not justify the price of this plate. If I had been judging off of my plate alone, this would have been a 1 or 2 star review rather than a 3. Also worth noting: the parking lot for the restaurant only has one option, $10 for up to 12 hours, so as nice as the views are, I would consider going elsewhere for that...
