This dog park is one of the nicest dog parks I have ever been to. I have only lived in the area about 6 months but it is very clear to me that this location is well maintained and respected by the dog owners and park rangers. Curry Dog Park has two segments of off leash areas. One area is for 20lbs and smaller, the other is for 20lbs and above. Both of these segments have good amount of space for all dogs to run around in, dog poop bag stations, and bowls for water throughout the area. I have a 90lbs collie who loves to explore around. He is over 11 years old, so he does not do much running, but Curry park is normally filled with well-behaved energetic dogs that motivate my collie to eventually run. This park also has some pretty views of nature as there is a nice wooded area to walk through or around in. There are two entrances to the dog park, the first one (main entrance I think) is off of W Capitol Dr. This entrance to the parking lot could be a little tricky getting in and out of as it is a very narrow drive through, and during busy parts of the day endless traffic making it difficult to exit. The second entrance is off of Menomonee River Pkwy with plenty of curb side parking, and a lot easier to enter and exit the park. In the several times I have visited this park, I have yet to run into any park rangers though. If you and your pup is in the area this is a must visit location for your dog! Dog Parks...
Read moreThis Milwaukee County Park has 2 fenced spaces in which dogs can play. There's a separation between small dogs and large dogs with the cut-off being 20 lb. Many people ignore the cut-off and bring their larger dogs into the small dog area but it's not really a problem unless the dogs become aggressive. The larger dog area is huge with lots of open spaces for dogs to run and few forested places. The space for small dog us not as large but probably seems huge to the smaller dogs. It also has open and forested area. Both areas have benches and tables for people to sit. Large water bowls are placed strategically around the park. I worked suggest that you bring your own water. Sometimes, you can find water in milk gallon containers but I'm not sure where that water is sourced. This park is fairly clean most of the time. There's lots of grass very little mud. Occasionally, there's a Park Ranger so make sure you have your permit with you. You can purchase a temporary/daily permit at the park or get an annual one from various vendors throughout the County. FYI -- If you're caught with your larger dog in the small dog play area, the fine is $300. Yes, there are...
Read moreThis is our favorite Park. My dog feels safe because it's enclosed. There's a space for large dogs (above 20 lbs) and one for the small dogs. Both areas are appropriate for the intended sized dogs. There's enough space for the dogs to run out in the open. My small dog seems to think he's escaping into a forest preserve but, in reality, it's just some trees and bushes near a fence. It's just enough for him to explore without anxiety.
If you go frequently, you will develop relationships with people who come all the time. Best of all, your pup will start making friends.
There are other parks with streams and forests, etc. This isn't that but, for my dog, this enough for him to feel safe and confident. Bring your own water. There are metal bowls everywhere as long as you don't mind sharing. I bring a bowl and water for my pampered pup. Leave your treats in the car. Food fights are no...
