The doctors that I had when I first came here after being transferred from froedtert new Berlin was very nice and the nurse that I have still she’s very nice as well but when the doctor switched over things changed. I still have the same nurse, which is OK but the doctor switched over and I understand that the ER can get hectic at times, but you should remain professional even at bedside. I understand why this hospital has a extremely low rating like a 1.7 or eight is because the very very very slow and they don’t explain what’s going on as things go on with your issue on why you came because there was a CT of two different ways that I wasn’t even told about because when I came over here from new Berlin, I was only told that I was coming over here for pain management and the MRI and that was it, but things are different. They ran bloodwork that I didn’t know nothing about as well. I just wish they were upfront and honest and explaining what exactly they’re gonna do so the patient is aware upfront and not have to wonder why when people are coming to get them for certain test and they were never told this place is extremely slow and countless areas. I know that nurse is trying to do her best, but I also know that her hands are in a variety of different areas, but there is certain things that this emergency room needs to be retrained on and that’s professionalism and bedside manners mainly but I can name others but this is including doctors again. I understand why this hospital has a very low rating. I didn’t believe it at first, and I wanted to give this hospital another chance, but I think I’m gonna start nipping things in the bud and again like I started new Berlin I should’ve stayed at home because I’m not gonna keep continuing to put myself to these kind of situation just as I suggested, I think I’m going to take back a portion of what I said because of what nurse would say I don’t go over results. You have to go to the doctor for that and all I was trying to ask her was what does RDW and CO2 mean when it comes to blood work? I should’ve been able to get an answer for that, but I did give it two stars at first, but due to that reason, I knocked it down to one and just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse. It was just like I feel like I can’t even ask questions for my own care without feeling like I’m gonna get my head bit off. I again understand that the emergency room can get busy for you from time to time, but you should be able to maintain some professionalism and not work out on your patients that are trying to talk to you. I gotta not only sit down here until they find a room upstairs. I can’t really understand why this experience hasn’t been up too far if you will. It still makes me feel like I should’ve stayed at home and suffered through it because it’s also making me feel like again that I need to transfer my care somewhere else so I don’t have to worry about this franchise hospital anymore. Some of these people need to be retrained on listening to their patients and bedside manners because this doesn’t make the patient want to return for a great experience when it’s actually not one if that makes sense. I understand why this hospital has a 1.9 on the review list and that should tell somebody something about fixing what needs to be fixed in the emergency room and hospital in general. I will be adding to this. I’m sure but for right now we’ll just see how things go, but as a word it stands right now this has not been a good experience, even though it started out as one when I first first got here, but when the doctors switched over and some other things took place during that period of time things drastically changed. This for me is unacceptable. Now I get to a different area and not a lot of sudden the tree made plans change yet again without my knowing one minute it’s one thing they wanted to an MRI and now all of a sudden they don’t wanna do it. I just wanna do x-rays. I don’t appreciate how I’m being told one thing and I’ll be told something different. I just rather just go home...
Read moreI have the utmost respect and praise for the medical teams (doctors, specialists, NPs, PAs) at Froedtert and MCW, as well as the caring nurses, the schedulers, friendly check-in staff, and those dedicated individuals who keep the facilities clean & in good working order. I am thankful for the care I & my family have received over the years.
However, I must also be honest about one pervasive problem in the emergency department: Policies must change for adult children accompanying elderly parents that suffer from dementia, senility, and other aging declines, such as advanced hearing loss.
On several occasions at F&MCW ER, deputies, security personnel, and emergency medical staff have rudely and without warrant kept me or other family caregivers from being present to assist with symptoms, diagnosis, medical history, and explanations of treatment for a geriatric parent.
As is common with many elderly people, as my mother aged, she was unable to convey accurate medical history and current symptom information that was crucial to her treatment and care plan, sometimes leading to delays and incorrect diagnosis of the urgent issue at hand. This is a potentially dangerous precedent and policy!
You wouldn't expect to treat a very young child without a parent being present to facilitate the expeditious and accurate care in an emergency situation. Why would you assume that a patient of an advanced age is lucid enough to provide important lifesaving information? Do you even know if that elderly person can hear what you're saying & asking? Is it acceptable to not know if the patient understands, especially if a caregiver is available to assist?
This policy is potentially life-threatening! I urge you to retrain staff and convey the information that, in many cases, having adult children of elderly patients involved can be as essential as bringing in a parent to assist with their young child during...
Read moreThey never even cleaned my wound. They took one look at the gaping gash on my arm - which needed stitches - but did NOTHING for it. I sat there using my right hand and bandages to protect and hold the skin and tissue of my left arm closed because if I let it go the wound gaped wide open. And they did nothing to address it. Instead, they drew blood and eventually sent me home. They didn’t even clean it. I’m mad at myself too because when they said I could go home I was so confused about why they hadn’t done anything to help me, but I just left. And then when I got home I called them because I still had to hold my arm closed for the injury to not gape open and they said they meant to clean it and stitch it up. Absolute NEGLIGENCE. I was so mad. I didn’t have a car to just go back over and wait again. This was over a year ago and my arm healed horribly. Multiple providers have told me that getting the wound taken care of appropriately at the time it happened (cleaned and stitched) would have led to it healing better. The providers at Froedtert ED are incompetent. Judging by my experience and the experience of others there Froedtert ED should be shut down.
I also want to add: Froedtert save your energy in “responding” to this post. I mean seriously, no one believes your replies that you are “sorry”. Stop wasting your energy on pretending to care by posting fake apologies. No one believes you. Instead spend time on being a better facility. Your words mean nothing when you have to keep saying them over and over and over again that you’re “sorry for [some patient’s] experience”. If you’re actually sorry, CHANGE. Do better. Or shut down. Your words...
