Starting off, I went in for lunch with my daughter and grandchild. The seating tables were uncomfortable & the highchair was EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! We tried getting a different highchair but were told that was the only one. There was no safety strap connector and I had to tie him in. This is a MAJOR no no! The service was slow, as if we were infringing on their conversation time. We ordered stuffed mushrooms( chicken/avocado/cheese) they looked like a dish I would consider as a means of using up leftovers. The taste was a mashup that made no sense and they were cold. They ended up in a take-home box when they should have gone back to the kitchen. We ordered off the lunch menu. My daughter told me about a Mexican shrimp soup that she couldn't find on the menu. I asked questions about the shrimp soup regarding contents, portions etc. to no avail. So I took a chance and ordered a bowl and 2 mini chimichangas w/beans & rice lunches. ..and a chicken tender/frie kids lunch. The soup came faster than the meals. The soup was in a very large glass bowl on a stand. The contents tasted and looked like watered down salsa with fresh cilantro and a bunch of Indonesia shrimp. I shared it with my daughter. Both of us are the shrimp and left the juice. At this point, the dangers toy grandson were too high. I had everything packed up, never tried the lunch special until later. ( It tasted good reheated ) Lastly, I had ordered coffee. I was not informed about the cinnamon they use it their brew. This too was disappointing and dangerous! I am aware that many Mexican restaurants use Cinnamon but most have a regular brew as well. Cinnamon causes allergic reactions, such as swelling of the throat... Choking.... I did not finish it and got my coffee at the gas station. All in all I was very disappointed!! Maybe if I was seated in the room with the fountain I would have at least enjoyed that. This is a FAR CRY from the La Fuentes that I used to enjoy at the 6th street location! My bill was $50.00. I was Shocked! The lunch specials were $7.95 each and that dang nasty bowl of Asian shrimp was $16.00. My guess is that those disgusting cold mushrooms added the balance to my bill. I was very much disappointed and very angry about that baby/child booster! Not sure I'd go back without a damn good explanation and knowing they put the safety of children as a priority above profit. La Fuentes.....You CAN do Better!!! It's not all about...
Read moreWe have been here so many times before but this particular day We walked in as a black family we waited at the front for at least 5 minutes trying to flag any or everybody down. There was people behind the bar that seen us and did not say a word to us. We tried flashing down the bussers they acted as though they didn't know English and continued to do whatever they was doing with any recognition. A women came from the back and looked right at us and walked right past and went behind the server counter without saying a thing! Another man walked up behind her and started communicating with her and seen us and didnt say a word. Couple seconds later a white couple comes thru the door and the Mexican man greets them instantly. Asking them how many were in the party as though we were not standing there for at least 5 minutes. We spoke up and told them we were sitting here for at least 5 minutes and nobody said anything to us. He then proceeded to grab the menus as we trying to do explain and walked off and left us trying to but put us at just any table. We then sat there to debate if we were staying or leaving because of the energy we were getting from everyone. Then the server comes to put salsa and chips down without not even acknowledging us or saying anything to us and just walks off with a attitude. We then got up and left with no hesitation. If you are not white or Mexican please do not go because they will discriminate! I do not even leave reviews but I decided to today to warn people of my race. Highly does...
Read moreThis was our first visit and we stopped for a bite to eat at around 5:00. The location is easily accessible on 92nd/Bluemound and there is ample parking in their lot as well as some street parking close by.
We walked in and were seated right away and the complimentary chips and salsa were at the table a few minutes later. Drinks were ordered and although our server was nice and helpful, the others at our table did comment on how long it took for the drinks to arrive especially since it did not seem all that busy. When they did arrive, the margaritas were not all served in traditional margarita glasses. For some reason one of them was served in an old-fashioned style glass which was somewhat odd?
Food - They have options for all the traditional Mexican foods you would come to expect. Tacos, Burritos, Tostadas, Chimis, Enchiladas, etc... Prices were reasonable. Food came a little faster than the drinks did. My plate was a "Super Burrito - Beef," with a side of rice and beans. The rice was a little clumpy and the beans were really soupy. The "Super Burrito" was very bland, didn't have a lot of beef. It really wasn't very big or "super" when compared to other establishments burrito offerings.
Overall, the service was okay and the food was just okay as well. I would probably give it another try if in the area and needed a quick bite to eat. However, there are other options out there I would likely choose first if I was planning to go somewhere...
