Double Chocolate Brownie: I'm the atypical American that can rarely be spotted in a Starbucks. Nothing against them, I just tend to think it's a little over-priced and I prefer to brew my own cup of joe. Starbucks gift cards tend to be popular rewards at my place of work though, so I’m guilty of collecting them. Rather than waste them on a $5 cup of coffee, I gravitate to their bakery items (which hasn't been too great so far). Their Double Chocolate Brownie is described as rich and containing an abundant amount of semi-sweet chocolate chunks. Texturally I found the brownie to be more fudgy than cakey, which is a win in my book. The chocolate chunks are abundant, but they're a little too dark/bitter for my preference. For curiosity's sake, I ate this alongside one of my own homemade brownies (which I did not top with frosting or powdered sugar to be fair) and although I might be a little biased, my plain brownie still killed the one from Starbucks (though the Starbucks brownie looked prettier). Although this is one of the better items I've tried from their bakery, that's not saying much. If I can make a batch of eight brownies myself for the same cost as one of these and mine taste better, then why get one from Starbucks? *Thanks to one of my co-workers for the gift card Ranking Starbuck's Bakery Items: Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin Pumpkin Scone Double Chocolate Brownie Cinnamon Coffee Cake As far as “fast food” brownies go, I currently think Chik-fil-A’s is the...
Read moreThe two stars go to the drive thru because they're always kind and speedy. Twice now I've ordered drinks inside at the counter and I've waited over 15 min and watched as people who ordered after me get their drinks before me. I approached to ask about my drink and was told it was in line to be made. Frustrated as to my understanding I ordered a simple hot tea, I asked to have the cup and I'll put my own hot water on it. One of the batistas without hesitation snapped saying, "she's literally making it right now," which wasn't true at all, as the other barista realized she had accidentally given my order to someone else. She apologized profusely and quickly made my order, which was kind of her. I understand mistakes, but this is the second time this has happened to me when ordering inside; the last time I straight up just walked out without a drink. And to be straight up lied to by one of the baristas in such a tone ... she didn't even inquire about my order or what my name was, just immediately assumed I was being inpatient and rudely snapped at me. In addition, this same barista couldn't help but condescendingly discuss about a customer who probably got my tea by accident with a front house full of waiting customers. Maybe she should consider getting out of the service industry. My apologies to the girl working register as I could have asked for my cup in...
Read moreStarbucks is one of my favorite places for specialty coffee or just to have a good dark roasted coffee first thing in the morning to get my day going. When it's super hot in the summer, I go for their cold teas or lemonades. I've tired them all and they all taste really good. My kids agree. They too drink the special coffees, especially their Strawberry Funnel Cake Frappuccino and we all just tried the Kiwi Starfruit Refresher and that was very tasty with just the right amount of fruit. We like that Starbucks allows us to load our gift cards right on to the app. That helps to know what my balance is right away and not have to find a card and check for the balance when we're crunched for time. Because of Starbucks, I can get my kids to try different foods! Like the bacon and egg with gouda cheese. If it's not string cheese, my kids wouldn't eat any other cheese from me. But, they'll eat their sandwiches with cheese! That's an A+...
