Gibson Park — Attraction in Weslaco

This is by far the best park in Weslaco. It’s smaller than others, but it feels so much more cozy? Not sure how to word it, but it feels like I’m able to watch my kids more since it’s smaller (yet it has so much to offer too!); they’re ages 3, 5, and 7, so I can keep my eyes on them at all times. And the best part is, the playgrounds are superb, they look clean and up to date. They don’t look worn out like the others in Weslaco. There’s also a lot of great features, I’ve seen swingsets, people playing basketball, even having birthday parties here! (Plus there’s the Nature Center right next door!!). So that shows a lot about this location. The mothers/fathers that my husband and I have come accross, are all very welcoming. I have never had any type of problem here. It feels cozy, safe, and I will keep coming back to this location for those exact reasons! &My kids overall, well, they absolutely...

Not even sure if it is still open, but this place was great. You could rent the pool for a party. Very secluded behind Valley Nature Center on the East side of Gibson Park. 08/22. Pool is gone. They filled it in with dirt. Park is a great park, but every kid should have a pool to swim. 11/05/22 they have started construction on a new splash pad. It is great for toddlers or young children, but the city already has at least 2. Still need public outdoor pools for the cities youth to have fun, exercise, and learn swimming. 06/23/24 spash pad was open and there were a lot of kids enjoying it. This park is HISTORICAL and many educators in the RGV like to go to the Valley Nature Center, because when you are done you can have the kids play at Gibson and eat lunch! They have been renovating little parts of the park here and there which is great, but they removed a lot of shaded seating and have yet to turn the splash pad on in this heat!
