Tonight, Friday May 3rd 2019, I decided to take my motorcycle out for a ride. It was a really nice night to go for a ride. The sky was Blue, the temperature was about 65 degrees, and there are very few people out on the roads for some unknown reason. I was getting close to the borough of West Chester so I decided to cruise through. I drove down Gay Street and all the restaurants were alive with so many people outside, especially for those restaurants that have outside seating. Anyway, after I passed through the center of West Chester, I cruised the outskirts and made my way towards Everhart Park. I pulled my bike over, got off, and took a little walk through the park. It brought back a lot of great memories from many years ago when I used to live in the borough. As I was saying, Everhart Park is a nice little place to walk through and just check out the little attractions they have there. Although there were only a few people there, I'm looking forward to July and the Turks Head Music Festival. This music festival has been going on for at least 30 years, and is a great time if you can get yourself out there on that Sunday afternoon in July. I don't remember the date offhand, but as it gets closer to July, a simple Google search will give you...
Read moreThis is a very nice park right in West Chester. This is a wonderful park for viewing the great variety of trees. There is a Gazebo that sits above the small stream connecting the two parts of the park. There is also a bridge and a boardwalk through wildflowers connecting the two parts of a park. The park has two separate playground areas one with a playground that looks like a firetruck and the other area has a mobius strip, dragon, climbing wall, slide, six regular swings and two tot swings. A "Little Free Library", an activities building with a gardening shed, basketball court, bathrooms and drinking fountain. The most disappointing thing about this park is that it has only one parking spot marked for handicapped parking. This spot is located along Union Street but it is not truly handicapped accessible parking as on the drivers' side you would need to risk getting out into traffic and if you get out on the opposite side you risk slipping...
Read moreHave passed this park many a time but never visited. Would see people walking and picnicking. In the spring, I'd see the beautiful trees blossom. On 5/6/23, my friend and I decided to go for a walk. Street parking and restroom on site. Charming Park in the middle of West Chester on a beautiful day filled with kids playing at the playground with their family, people sitting and reading, and friends laying around chatting while sunbathing. Park was bigger than I thought, and I think I saw some zip line thing the kids could ride on! I saw someone laying in a hammock amongst the trees near a creek... Although I'm not sure if this person was homeless. Only downside I could see was no sidewalk on the edges around the park. BTW-didn't know what soroptimist meant. Soroptimist is a global volunteer organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment....
