You won’t find this in any tour guide. About every 5 minutes you can feel and hear the boom when the pool release the built up gas and it bubbles to the surface. Stand or sit on the west side. Sometimes it’s strong with a lot of booms and sometimes it’s one or two. Park in the Black Sand basin parking lot. Walk back out to the road , cross the street and walk up the hill. About a 10 minute walk.

Great can feel and hear a boom when the bubble are released. Not every time, but wait around 10 minutes or so, you will hear and feel it. Can lean on fence post to help you feel it, too. Can park at blank sands, then hike across the road where you entered parking lot and hike up a few minutes. Very early visited nice and private even on a busy day in the park.
