I really enjoyed "The Curious Savage". The set was beautiful, the pacing was excellent, and the cast did an exceptional job!
When reading the synopsis of this play, I have to admit I felt slightly nervous...in a play like this, especially given the era in which it was written, tackling humor related to mental illness is...a delicate business.
However, I was massively impressed with how the cast portrayed the denizens of "The Cloisters". The characters were fully embodied persons brought to life by a cast that imbued them with self-awareness, compassion and dignity...all without ever devolving into lazy caricatures. This is partly the result of a good script, but the lion's share of the credit goes to the cast who treated the characters with such seriousness and tact.
I also very much appreciated the cast that breathed life into the other characters--from the villainous greed of the Savages, to the thoughtfulness of Dr. Emmet, to the steadfast kindness of Miss Wilhelmina--each performance brought a nuanced juxtaposition to the internal "life" of The Cloisters and its patients that was both profound and thought-provoking.
And finally, I adored the portrayal of Mrs. Savage. It was a performance filled with wit, an appropriate sarcasm at times, and SO MANY moments of warmth and...
Read moreClue, the play, as advertised as a comedy certainly met that goal! The audience, a full house at the next to last performance provided lots of laughter during most of the 2 1/2 hr performance. Lots of scene changes, well done may we add as the number of rooms in the house was constantly being changed as the cast went from one room to another. Certainly not a boring performance ! The cast proved to be top notch, so to rule out who was the best performer would be unfair. They all get high marks for their efforts.
Today's times laughter often is missing, as our world moves towards some uncertainty including our nation's political scene. "Clue's" storyline gave us some of that old fashioned slapstick comedy that usually draws a lot of laughs and this play and group that performed it did just that.
We welcome back those who participated in future shows!

Read moreFirst time to visit Inspire Theater was Saturday afternoon presentation of Noises Off. My sister and niece accompanied me and we all had a good time. They enjoyed the popcorn and sodas. The seats were comfy and every seat provides excellent view of the stage. All three of us thought the play was hilarious. The actors were precise in timing and delivery. If there were glitches we certainly didn't notice. The sets were awesome in the way they could be reversed. The only thing about the play that we thought could have been better was the very ending. It seemed very weak and rather meaningless. Certainly not the fault of the cast who delivered that last line with gusto. Overall it was a very enjoyable afternoon. I will be sure to get tickets for the Christmas "variety" show. Thank you...
