So, I had 2 different copies of Pokemon Sapphire sent in to be repaired at this location.
My wife's copy, and my own. My copy had traces/resistors that needed to be repaired, and my wife needed a resistor put into her copy of Sapphire to be repaired as well.
Our initial first visit, I explained this to the person at the front (Who, I presume understood everything I was describing.), and within the same day, got the copies back, only to have said copies not repaired, and have a battery replaced instead. I wasn't particularly sure if what I needed done was understood, so I then message the person in charge (I believe, Joe?) on his website, and never got a response back because of the website's clunky UI. (This is not particularly the fault of him not responding, though his response to me not getting his message was kinda grating when I was looking for clarification, and he went on with said phone call as though I got the message in the first place.)
So, it is what it is. Sometimes, things get misunderstood, and messages on websites aren't always received. He then asked me to drive all the way to a location to drop off my Pokemon Sapphire copies so he could get them repaired sooner (The right way.), so instead of going to the location in Westland, I end up at Gameplay Livonia to drop off the copies, and was then met with (I would assume?) one of his repair guys that I think specifically worked with repairing games or consoles. After having a chat with his repair guy on what was wrong with the games, the repair person started talking about fixing things with my wife's copy that didn't need to be fixed or messed with, so I got a bit worried about whether or not the person he had working on said copy was right for the job (Hoping, of course, that nothing gets messed up.), so okay, it's fine. I waited about a week or so for a response, and didn't get nothing until I messaged the website with an email. I, of course, didn't get to find out until I got in that my copy couldn't be repaired (At least by the people hired), but my wife's Pokemon Sapphire copy could.
Great! One of us at least got our copies fixed. Joe (I believe?) was a person of his word, and gave me my money back on my copy not being fixable (At least his store couldn't fix it.), but nothing ventured; nothing gained.
My wife, and I, however, found our copies were different than when we found them. I only have my photo present, so I can't entirely show the crack at the top of my wife's copy, but the backside of my copy is cracked, and left in a worst condition than when I found it.
It's one thing to not be capable of getting the job done. That's perfectly fine. I ended up finding someone in Florida who specialized in repairing traces, and resistors like the one you see in the photo. Fixed and all. It's not so much the incomplete job I was upset about.
It's the lack of communication along the way, some snark shown in between the phone call when his website was going down, the uneasiness of his staff sending me mixed signals on how capable they were (In some areas, I ended up correct on with my copy being damaged in the crossfire), and me having to come to him towards the end of my time with him.
I get GBA PCB's aren't a super common thing for repair shops to deal with, so I'm not entirely upset that this shop wasn't capable of doing that job, but leaving my product in a worst state, and no honesty, apology, or transparency on that mess up feels real disingenuous.
Kinda blows because these guys are close by for me, and I thought was a potential replacement for any real repairs, but I don't think I can recommend them to anyone purely from everything I've typed out thus far.
Mileage may vary on your experience, but my wife, and I personally were not impressed.
My experience here was generally not good, and a lot of that could either be summed up with:
Lack of proper communication Cracked copy Kinda rude Not efficient with my time.
But he did fix my wife's copy, so I can acknowledge that the job can be done, but not really...
Read moreLet me preface this review by saying that I gave this establishment a 1 ⭐️ only because I can’t figure out how to not even give a ⭐️. I will also state that I know this is a first world problem and that it has to do with my drone (which at the end of the day is a toy).
In early August 2025 my drone had a crash. There were some repairs that were going to need to be done and right before I shipped my drone to Florida for a repair I came across MXT in Westland. Very excited that I wouldn’t have to send it out of state, I dropped the drone off. I paid initially for an assessment and was assured this fix would be no big deal and they should only need it for at max two weeks. I of course was very relieved thinking I’d have plenty of time this fall to fly it. Let me just say, I just received it through the mail yesterday, more than two months after I initially dropped it off. Two weeks and two months are two totally different amounts of time. If I would have been told two months from the start it would have been a totally different story.
I was patient for the first couple weeks and gave the benefit of the doubt in every excuse/reason before I started inquiring for the status after not hearing anything. Once I started making contact to try and get updates, I was told they had just received the new shell and that they had been sent the wrong one. I was given excuse after excuse and reason after reason why it hadn’t been completed yet. After being assured it was complete and being packaged for sending out, it was then that they realized a landing gear was partially broke. I was called and asked if I wanted that to be fixed. I reiterated at this point that I want the drone repaired and as close to brand new as they could get it. I was assured that wouldn’t be a problem and should just be a couple extra days. Couple days go by and no word. I call and find out the guy who fixes the drones was gone out of town and when he gets back he will be fixing it. Another week or so goes by and supposedly that had been fixed now and the only issue was when it was getting packed up for shipping (mind you I never even gave them my address because I was going to be picking it up) they found another cracked area at the base of one of the arms. Again I was asked if I wanted that fixed or just leave it to which of course I reiterated again I want everything fixed. They were going to do that and then it would be sent. I proceeded to contact this business probably 8-10 more times with verbal phone contact to have been told it was shipped and I would be receiving the tracking info. Only problem, I never gave them my address like I said because I was going to be picking it up. Oddly enough if you can believe this, one of the times I called to ask again for the tracking info I was told it got returned because of insufficient address details. You think? That’s because they didn’t have a clue what my address was because they had never asked me for it.
I think after as many attempts as I had made (after not having my drone for two months) to find out what was going on with my drone, the owner finally shipped it USPS and sent me a tracking receipt. Of course I was excited by this point knowing that I had been told that everything had been repaired and was as close to brand new as they could make it. I received the drone and opened it up to basically find that 1.) the landing gear never got replaced and 2.) the cracked piece by the arm that had been discovered and was going to be fixed...
Read moreI had a not so good experience at this store and hopefully this review would help you make better decision about approaching this store. I had a pixel 7 display screen not working issue and I decided to visit this store as it seemed to have good rating. I had no idea what technical issues it was having internally but I did ask to tell me the diagnosis before I get it fixed and I explained it was affected by water damage. The guy basically said only the screen needs to be replaced and would cost me little more than $200. After I paid the person, I realized that the fingerprint sensor is not working and there is a big smudge on the middle of the screen which wont go away. When I asked that he should look into the issue, he said that I can get it fixed by replacing the motherboard (which is not true) and will cost extra $130. At this point, I don't think repair shop understand fixing vs replacing and this information would have been helpful before I spent the original $200. After reading reviews online, I realized it has nothing to do with motherboard and everything to do with the way display with fingerprint sensor is used. I reached out asking for the guy to take ownership but he said that opening the screen again can break the screen and he wont take ownership. So either he didn't use OEM Google pixel screen or he messed up transferring the original fingerprint scanner to my new screen. Overall horrible experience and stuck with no fingerprint. I would have been better ordering ifixit and doing it myself. Personally find a better repair shop who know their stuff.
