I only go to this dog park because it's local. Other than that, I would probably go somewhere else. I usually go here four times out of the week and most of the time during the mornings.
Pros: The people are mostly friendly and a lot of the dogs are friendly as well. Once in a while you'll get a bad apple. I like the fact that they don't use gravel which tends to hurt the dogs feet, but it sucks after a rain or snow storm. If that happens, don't forget to take a towel to wipe off your dogs feet (unless you like mud all over your car seats). They have a separate area for small dogs There's a little obstacle course for the dogs
Cons: What's with the City of Westminster not believing in putting bathrooms close to their parks? Humans have to pee too! They didn't turn on the dog water fountains until August. There were several people that kept asking to get them turned on all summer long and it took them until the summer was almost over to do so?!? There's a water runoff in the middle of the park. It turns into a small lake. If it rains or snows the day/night before, be prepared for your dog to run through it and get completely soaked with mud and water. The fencing around the park stinks. If your dog is an escape artist, be prepared to...
Read moreThis park has a lot going for it: a reasonably large space with separate areas for small and large dogs, a water fountain, agility equipment in both sections, and doggie bags provided. There's plenty of parking, and many of the regulars (human and canine) are friendly.
However, the maintenance leaves a lot to be desired. The ground is mostly dirt and pea gravel, which becomes a muddy mess when there's standing water... something that happens often due to poor drainage. During a recent visit, I picked up 27 piles of dog waste, which explains the strong odor and presence of flies.
The fence also has gaps that an escape-prone dog could easily exploit. While some owners are attentive, others allow aggressive behavior to go unchecked, and animal control has visited to check rabies tags, and after reports of fights. In-tact males, which are technically not allowed, are a common sight.
Overall, this park has potential but desperately needs better upkeep and more responsible visitors to be...
Read moreThis park is generally clean and the people are for the most part attentive to their dogs and very friendly. Ran into a issue there a few days back with an aggressive dog that was running amuck and reeking havoc on other well behaved dogs. The owner of this monster paid no attention to anything but her damn phone! In the mean time the park was clearing out due to her little menace. Before I left I walked over to where she was seated, her back to the dogs, handed her a poop bag and pointed to her dog who was now kicking up dirt on the poop it just took. She looked at me and said no thanks her dog went before they left the house!! I so badly wanted to drag her ass over there and rub her nose in it however, there were still a couple of potential witnesses wandering about, and frankly I just was not in the right frame of mind...
