Freeland Park — Attraction in Whidbey Island

. ** if you let your child check out the beach and it is low tide ** DO NOT let them wander out on the flats too far there Is sinking sand and I was crawling waist deep to rescue my determined toddler he really likes throwing things into the water so it got pretty sketchy. There maybe needs to be a sign. I grew up on sunlight Beach and used to clam dig at freeland Beach back in early 2000s so I knew better but I guess not very smart of me to bring him to the beach at low tide in the winter . Play ground has been vandalized by some very inexperienced hoodlum. Nothing profane really or legible but how sad is that? Very nice...

Great place for everyone, really. The new and improved playground is a grata place to let the kids be kids. Don't want to be in the line of fire of imaginary laser pew pew or maybe get in the way of wood chip pies and bark tea parties or just in case the floor turns lava, there's a few benches and even an undercover area to park ya cheeks. Or if you like the beach, just on the other side of the grass barrier you'll find the beach and boat launch and a floaty dock to walk on. This place is fun all year round but be sure to bring a coat during the colder months because the wind can make it...

This is an unpretentious handy getaway overlooking the sound convenient to Freeland. On our third day visiting Whidbey island and craving ice cream we got lucky because the truck came by!
