I generally frequent all the coffee stands on the south end of the island a similar amount. I even spent the majority of my last year working at a coffee stand in Bayview so I know what it’s like. After this week, I will never return to this Whidbey Coffee. I have had many terrible experiences here. Last November I walked out of Payless with my four year old niece and went to the walk up side. The baristas were laughing and talking with the men in front of us and afterwards just shut the window. My niece and I stood there in the freezing cold for 15 minutes without so much as a we will be right with you. They served five cars and never opened the window again. Finally, a man behind us offered to order our drink so I could take my niece back to the car out of the cold. They opened the window up and helped him fairly quickly. Other times, in the car line I’ve waited well over 30 minutes for them as they talk to everyone. Being friendly is a part of the job but sometimes I’ve been at the window feeling awkward that someone is waiting behind me, I’ve paid, I have my drink, and they are still talking to me. The other day someone got out of their car while I was waiting for my drinks and asked why it was taking so long and they weren’t even talking. I’ve also had the majority of my orders messed up. All of those things are tolerable I suppose so I really only chose to go here if I was feeling lazy since it’s closest to my house. However, this week I went through the line and asked if the mocha was dairy free since my daughter is allergic and I’m breast feeding. SHE SAID YES IT WAS. It’s not. After my daughter had a reaction I drove to the Clinton location and asked them if it was dairy free and they said no and that it’s the same at the Freeland location. I don’t think every Whidbey Coffee location is this way. I like the locations in Clinton, Mukilteo, Oak Harbor, and Mount Vernon. But honestly I could never recommend this location unless management gets completely removed. I feel disrespected by their staff and I can get my coffee from kinder people other places...
Read moreThis is my very first review. This should tell you how upset I am over this purchase.
I ordered the largest blended drink size they had, I think it was 32 ounces, spiced Chai with two shots of white coffee. I have no idea what I got. It was a blend something. Maybe vanilla Chai but even if it was, it didn't taste like it. Whatever it was, it had no flavor and it was not sweet at all. I went back to have another made and I was told that with the two shots of white coffee they couldn't make the Chai correctly. Two shots of white coffee with the milk took up to much room in the cup they couldn't make it taste like spiced Chai, that is what the girl said.
So basically the Chai tea that everyone else in the PNW can get right, this place can't because two shots and milk take up to much room. When I asked if I could get it remade without the coffee I was told no, because there was nothing wrong with this one.
I asked them to toss it and left....
Read moreCould not believe my experience today. I went with my girlfriend to order two drinks. We first wanted a 16 oz white chocolate mocha and a 12 oz granita. After a brief consideration we changed the order to two granitas. The barista was confused so I clarified, one 12 oz granita, and one 16oz. We ended up with a white chocolate mocha & two 16 oz granitas. We were charged for all 3 drinks. I explained we didn't want the white chocolate mocha as we explained earlier. Then both Baristas told us that we were wrong and we messed up the order. They took the white chocolate mocha back and gave me a "free" drink voucher since they charged my card for the extra drink. Not super helpful since I'm on the island only once every 6 months. Needless to say it was a really tough experience and I am not a...
