K for W Supermarket does not calibrate their scales. I paid full price for 1.19 pounds of shrimp, but when I picked up the box, it seemed awfully light. So I placed it on the produce scale and it only measured 1/2 pound. I asked the cashier to weigh it on her checkout scale and she refused. She also told me that the produce scale is not accurate and it is “only there for kids to play with”. Heed my warning if you are attempting to purchase anything with quantities for a recipe. The fact that they do not calibrate their scales for purchases has been reported to the Washington state Department of Weights and Measurements. This is a small, independent grocery store.
