incredibly disappointing. this park is so well set up with nature trails, pavilions, park benches, n trash cans. if only it were better taken care of, i could be writing a glowing review here. there are trash cans every few hundred feet but people can't be bothered enough to carry their trash that far, so there is litter everywhere. the river would be a beautiful sight if it weren't entirely lined with trash and dead fish along the way. the artificial waterfalls would be cool if they didn't end in a pile of trash on the river.
this park could be something perfect if people didn't actively destroy it. I would not recommend the short 15 minute hike from the park to the falls to anyone, as they'd just be disappointed along the way.
perhaps we just came at the wrong time of year, but this I left this park with the heaviest feeling. you can do better, we can all do better. if only the city cared more for their natural spaces and parks, I could have been incredibly impressed, even without the leaves...
Read moreWe rented the Log Cabin in Lucy Park to hold a birthday party. It was very spacious (we had about 30 people). It has two restrooms inside (both with ADA height toilets, and a decent amount of space for transfers). The cabin has a gas fireplace with a stone hearth. There are ceiling fans. There are windows all around the building. There are six rectangular tables and a rack of metal folding chairs. There is an area with counter space (and plenty of outlets), but there is no refrigerator or stove, no microwave or dishes. There is a sink with hot/cold running water. It is a very rustic cabin that gave me camp vibes. The city Parks & Recreation Dept rents the cabin out for specific blocks of time, seven days a week, year round. A refundable key return/cleaning deposit is required up front, along with prepayment of the rental fees for the blocks of time you reserve it. It ended up being nice and adequate for the party, and everyone had a really enjoyable time. I would definitely...
Read moreBest park I've been to here in Wichita Falls. It's really big. There is plenty of parking. Handicap parking is available. There is a bike/ hiking trail that goes all around the city. From the east side to the Southside of Wichita Falls. I'm not sure how long it is but it goes from Lake Wichita, all the way across town, around Lucy Park. (That's where the Falls are.) Then west to Barnett Road, around the lake, then East towards downtown. Beautiful, peaceful, and with plenty of room for travelers to pass by. Lots of different types of plants and animals. They have a pool at Lucy Park. Also. And a couple of nice play grounds...
