MacDonald Golf Course — Attraction in Wichita

Will not go again. A cashier (80 year old man; usually wears red jacket); during my first time visiting, charged me twice for a set of balls and didn’t tell me. He then came out and handled me another set, instead of just refunding me, and then he proceeded to walk off. The second time visiting, my group got outside to tee off 2 minutes past our tee time, however, the group 10 minutes ahead of our tee time started, so we waited for them. The same man came outside to tell us we couldn’t tee off because there was a group behind us; even though we couldn’t tee off because of the group that tee’d early, was now in front. We explained this to him and he said, “Doesn’t matter you’re still late”, even though there is zero correlation because, even if we weren’t, the group teeing early was now in our way. At the end of our 18 holes, we went to drop off our carts where they’re supposed to be dropped off but, we were then told, “you guys need to get out of my way” by (80 year old man worker #2), even though we were doing what we were supposed to. This staff member has brought in his dog as well which I would highly recommend he bathe.

The course it self is interesting and fun but looks like something that came out of a slow cooker; still fun. However, the staff seem to lack courtesy and basic social functions and interaction. The people who tolerate golfing here are the...

My favorite course in Wichita. A great layout with mature trees, well placed bunkers, decent length, plenty of water and nice contouring. That being said, the conditioning has not been good the last few years. The fairways are very spotty, the bunkers lack adequate drainage and now even the rough is starting to get patchy. I hope they are planning to put some well deserved money into this grand old course. The city would be crazy not to take care of a classic layout like Mac Park. This course in good shape is substantially better than any other course in the city. Add: As of 7/18, the Bermuda fairways have improved substantially and the rough is filling in. Worst golfing experience by far! Had a reservation at 12:25, arrived 30 minutes early and paid for a golf cart. Waited almost 45 minutes past our tee time to get the cart! Not allowed to bring any drinks other than water. The guy actually checked our coolers to make sure we didn’t have anything but water. We had to take our Gatorade back to the car. He still complained about us bringing water. The facilities are so outdated. The course itself was decent but not well taken care of. Definitely will not be going back. Also, driving range is almost a different location if you don’t have a cart (which you wouldn’t)
