Wickliffe Public Library — Attraction in Wickliffe

The people who work here are weird. It’s like they work at Wickliffe Public Library for a home away from home and to enjoy the peace and quiet and books NOT to actually help visitors. The culture of this place is very robotic and cold not warm and welcoming. It’s the closest library to me but every time I come I feel as a burden to ask a question. The lady at the desk was so into her book I simply waited for her to look up. I went to the restroom and as I come out the short lady with the black hair just stared at me I felt uncomfortable when I walked past her. I turned to look back at her she was half in half out of the back office behind the desk talking to someone and still starring at me with a strange look on her face. I don’t know if the bad energy is towards black people who come in or is this just the culture in general? but it’s definitely an unwelcoming feeling in the air each and every time that I come. Shaker Library on the other hand is totally different.

Horrible and misguided passport acceptance place. My passport was not accepted because the representative at the library DID NOT KNOW WHAT SHE WAS DOING! She advised me to use the wrong forms. She didn't want to handle it and couldn't understand why she had to mail my paperwork. It was part of the instructions per the State Dept. She even laughed in exasperation as to why I was there. When I told her I called to make an appointment, she said they don't handle applications. Do not go here for passports acceptance. They are clueless and condescending. Treat you like a child. If you still want to schedule, get their names and who said what. If you talk to two people, you will get three...

They are a great smaller library and I would say that the programs offered are wonder if I wasn’t sitting outside of the UP program with my 7 year old because due to us being told WORD OF MOUTH from their library staff, it was failed to be mentioned that registration is required. So my daughter is feeling very left out and I am a very irritated 7 mos pregnant mom sitting here feeling bad because now due to information not given to us I feel like I have failed her today.
