I was cited by the park ranger for consuming alcohol. the ranger came up and said, "there's no alcohol allowed in the park. I said, oh, ok. Then he asked for my id. he then called my info in and I assume I checked out ok. he then told me to pack my things and leave the park or pay 2?? fine and go to court. also told me that I was from the area and knew better. I explained to him it was my 2nd time there ever and I didn't know. he said there are signs everywhere. I looked for these signs and found them...they're on either side of the entry lane.....facing each other......so you're supposed to not only notice...but be able to read these signs while you're trying to park, look out for incoming and exiting vehicles as well as pedestrians, pets, etc. I left quietly, never said a word, but it was the fact that instead of saying, pour it out, he made it a point to make me leave, knowing I was there with my family. it ruined a great day. im not a rulebreaker, and I usually don't vent online, but that was so unnecessary to make me leave and that attitude that came with the statement, the lack of empathy, and the arrogance was a black eye on what I felt like was a good place to be. every one has a job to do and I get it, but imagine if that park ranger was ticketed for everytime he went 2 or 3 miles over the speed limit. the point is people should remember that they're still people and sometimes, especially in a case where there were no signs that were even halfway posted practically, I was neither belligerent or violent, showed the officer total respect, never questioned his actions....that's a situation where you show a little leniency. was I wrong...yep. did I deserve to be asked to leave...I really don't think so. im sure that's policy, but so is 1 mph over the speed limit, even if...
Read moreWhat a great little beach area! My little family and I went here for a few hours on a Sunday. We went early around 10 and left 1:30. Not too many people at all, plus the people that were there were pretty spread apart. The parking lot is just a few short minutes away from the actual beach area. There’s steps to go down to the water or if you keep going around and down the path towards the bathrooms and concession stand, you can walk a straight path to the beach, making it easier to bring a wagon (which is what we did). It was our first time here and I’m so glad I stumbled upon this place! It’s quiet and clean and well kept! The bathrooms are clean and right next to the water. There’s a concession stand and while we didn’t buy anything cause we brought our own food, there were lots of cheap typical beach food items. There were lots of picnic tables and you can bring your own grill. It’s dog friendly! The water is low key and calm. There’s plenty of trash cans available and there’s also places for you to wash off the water and sand afterwards. Loved it! Will...

If you're coming just to hang out on the beach area and swim, you'll enjoy it.
Grilling out is where its hit or miss as far as the enjoyment factor goes. They have 2 different areas with grills and tables. One is out in the open and the other is in a wooded shaded area. Obviously during hot Summer months youd prefer the shaded area to grill instead of being In the dead sun. So with that said, I hate when you go and try to grill out in the shaded area and every single table is occupied by people that are just hanging out and getting drunk and not even grilling. This makes it difficult for people who need table space to lay some things out and be able to grill out easily. There is plenty of room in this shaded area for people to bring their own beach/camping chairs if they'd like to just sit and hang out. We have respect for others to not hog up and occupy a table for hours on end knowing other people who grill out need this room temporarily. I wish more people had the...
