Winston Lake — Attraction in Winston-Salem

So they upgraded Winston Lake and I'm loving it. It's about time. I really enjoyed fishing on a pretty day when I know the fish be biting however I didn't catch a dang on thang nor did I see anyone else catch a fish. It's more clean and the restroom area was also clean. The pier is big and long. (Love It) But wish it had some umbrellas to block the sun. It is benches to sit down so I love that. Went today caught a few spawning bass by the waterfall fish reef threw them back. Big catfish are on the backside. Croppies and big bass are on the other side where the brush and fallen trees are. Don’t know why everyone is scared of fishing on that side. There’s a secret pond behind ymca with big fish 🐠. Been fishing here for 15+ years recently spotted some trout and carp. Last visited about 6 months ago was closed and under extensive construction. Visited today gates was still closed but no trespassing signs was removed. Upon entering the lake all construction was completed and the facility looks fantastic. Lots of new picnic benches, BBQ grills,, paved walks and parking spaces.
