I'm from Winston-Salem but now live in South Florida. I'm visiting for the week and being a avid golfer I Always L👀k Forward to playing the Lake! I've been all over the country and I'm Sooooooo Proud of the Lake I've bragged from coast to coast of Her Beauty and Uniqueness! For over the last 10 years there has been a great decline in Her Upkeep!! On yesterday 5/7/23 from the moment I arrived at the clubhouse where in your Immediate View I see the putting green, No.10, 18, and 10th tee!! There was an Immediate Disconnect from the courage I once knew! Then my cousin and I began to play starting on the 1st hole! It was a Bad Movie! A HORROR Movie at that!! Yesterday was Sunday!! Every golf course in the country puts there best F👀t Forward for the weekend because you will have guest visiting from all over the world, you have those who have worked hard all week long anticipating an Enjoyable Round of golf, and overall a at least Gooood Experience if not Great!! The Fairways L👀ked As If They Had Not Been Cut For Weeks!! We found golf balls in the Middle Of Fairways Because People Could Not Find Their Balls!! It Only Got Worse!! The bunkers, sand traps had Big Rocks mixed in with it, which means someone could actually first damage their golf club, but more importantly THEY COULD CAUSE INJURIES TO THEMSELVES!! Whoever is the Greens Keeper, the Boss Over The Worker At The Course, It's Obvious he's not Qualified to be Associated With The Game Golf, Less known It's Up Keep! My Metaphor for describing the overall experience of my visit to Winston Lake Golf Course, was that she was once this Beautiful Woman I Once Love and She Died Such A Horrible Death, that the Family chose to have a Closed Casket With Memories Of Her Past In Photos Sooooooo Everyone Could Remember Her As She Was!! This Was Easily The Worst Golf Course I've EVER PLAYED and I've played golf for over 50th years All Over The World!! Please Someone, Anyone Who Can Help Her Regain Herself Step Up Too The Plate And Win This One! I also played Reynolds Park which is also a City Run Golf Course Played More Freakwently but non black guest, while Winston Lake is located in the Black Neighborhood L👀ks Very Neat and Professional!! SOMEONE NEEDED TO BE FRIED!! THANK YOU,...
Read moreCalled multiple times on a Friday to see if I could make a tee time. No one answered . A couple weeks later I call again and scheduled a tee time. My friend and I show up after making a tee time the previous day. After we had already paid, the man behind the counter says, "You know, only the front 9 is open , right? You will have to play it twice". To which I replied, "Um, no. How would I know that? This is our first time out here and nobody told me this while I was making our tee time. Nothing on your website says anything about this either." No discount was given to us. We begin our play and on hole 8 my drive goes into a yard. I begin to search for my ball and within 15 seconds a lady comes out yelling "we don't do that here!" To which I replied, "who doesn't do what where? Could you be more specific?" After a pause I realised she must be referring to me looking for my ball in her yard. I was only a couple paces onto her unfenced property. It's not like I was right next to her house looking through her windows. And if your stubborn enough to buy a house on the right side of a par four fairway, roughly 250 yards from the tee box, you better expect a lot of balls are going to fly your way. Anyways, after our round we get into my car to leave and after 10 minutes on the road, I realize I left my sunglasses on the cart. I call and ask if someone can go out there and put them somewhere safe untill I have a chance to make it back out there. The man replies, "sure, no problem." I call back the next day to ask if they found them. The man replies, "no, no sunglasses were found." I question him to see if we can resolve the issue. He says, "I promise you, they are not here." I drive out there to check for myself the next day. No luck. I leave all my contact info for him. They call me back 2 days later saying they found them. I am relieved. In drive out there a week later at 7:30 am. They are closed. Their website says they...
Read moreI’d go solid 3.5 stars. The lack of rain may have some effect on the greens but they are very fuzzy and soft. Almost like walking on thick carpet. Take your slowest greens played and they will be slower. The tee boxes are good shape and fairways need a bit of work but not terrible. I sat my Scotty down just off the green and it hit a rock. Nice memory of the place I guess. I only played out of one bunker and it had as many rocks as sand. The lay out was very fun and I used most clubs in the bag. Using driver off the tee you better be very accurate or you will loose lots of balls. The Marshall on the front kept coming by asking if we needed water. Very nice guy. Just before making the turn we caught up with a lady and two guys. They held us up every shot and didn’t act like we were even there. Never picking up a rake when leaving a bunker or nocking the sand off their shoes before walking on the green. The Marshall on the back comes up asking if we needed water. I ask if they were just that busy or are the ones ahead of us just that slow. At this point we have 3 groups on one hole waiting on this one. He proceeded to tell me they are just slow then drives the other direction. So much potential to be a great course. Staff was super friendly and the carts are nice and new. I hope they get the greens and pace of play up. I may return but not...
