Best dog park in Orlando in my opinion. Lots of dirt and sand bc the dogs running around rip up the grass, but they don't seem to mind. Just don't wear your good shoes and be prepared for wet, dirty dogs to rub up against you if it's busy. Lake can be stinky sometimes and my dog LOVES to play in it. I've never seen any gators but I'm sure they're there. Kinda buggy, as you'd expect. Definitely put your dog on flea control before bringing them there. It's a big place and has some very small trails so its maybe not so good if your dog runs away and doesnt have good recall bc you might lose line of sight. There's lots of squirrels for the dogs to chase. There's pretty good shade around the park. There's lots of dog poop stations, but not everybody cleans up so watch where you step. They do maintenance like twice a week to keep it under control though. People bring their small children there a lot on the weekends and sometimes later in the day on week days so if your dog doesn't like kids I'd recommend visiting early in the morning or in the middle of a weekday. There's a small playground on the other side of the fence so if you have kids they can play there while you watch your dog in the dog park. There's a small dog area but I normally don't see many people or dogs in there. There's a wash station so bring shampoo and a towel. The hoses are good after they switch them out but they slowly break over time, so if you've got a really furry pup you might need to rewash at home. One person described it as "Dog heaven" and that is literally the best way to describe it. TONS of dogs off leash so you will have at least a few random pups walking up to and asking for some pets. I was worried about dog fights or violence that could happen with so many dogs off leash. I have yet to see anything bad happen. I've seen a dog or two get flustered or angry with another dog. But they bark or growl, all the people look to see if it's theirs and the owners will come to collect their dog to avoid the fight, but even better is that almost every dog in the park, at least everyone within sight, will come running over. It shocked me the first time I saw it. Not sure what exactly the science is behind it but it seems to help the two who are in a spat seperate and go their different ways. This also has so many different areas and things to hang out in. You want a trail? A picnic bench? A pavillion? A beach? Some grass? Some trees? Some sand? A bathroom? A place to wash your dog after? This place has it all and all off leash. Your dog WILL need to be friendly with other dogs as well as comfortable with different environments and strange sounds.
