From WWII until the 1990's, the area that is now Baldwin Park was owned by the US military. In 1942 the Orlando Army Air Station was established and it encompassed what is now the Orlando Executive Airport, Baldwin Park, Audobon Park, the Fashion Square Mall, and the Koger Office Center. In the early 1960's the air station closed and the land was used as a Navy training center that trained over 650,000 recruits. In 1993 the base was closed leaving a 1,000 acre hole right near downtown Orlando. The land was turned over for community and economic development.
The Lake Baldwin neighborhood was developed in 2007 and has won many awards including accolades from the National Association of Home Builders, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the Congress for the New Urbanism. The pristine neighborhood includes 15 different house styles including cottages, bungalows, and manor homes. The Lake Baldwin neighborhood is located on the shore of Lake Baldwin, one of two lakes on the former military property.
Harbor Park is one of the parks in the Lake Baldwin neighborhood. Park amenities include boardwalks, benches, and gazebos which offer a great views of Lake Baldwin. The park is perfect for enjoying nature and watching sunsets. There are grassy areas for open play and picnics. Restaurants for dining and drinking are only a few feet away. I reached the park by biking along the Lake Baldwin Jogging Trail. I had a lot of fun riding my daughter's new Lectric E-bike through the park and taking in the...
Read moreA beautiful park with a great pathway for biking, walking, running, etc. We lived in Baldwin park for a few years and went to this park frequently. I love that it has minimal interaction with the main traffic so it's a safe path to use regularly.
they do host a lot of 5 case at the specific pathway, so if you do live in the area and might be kind of frustrating that there is constant traffic, both driving and foot traffic. However, if you live in this area you also know that this is a regular occurrence when you move in so you can't really expect it to not happen. it's a great location for people who have pets, because the path is very wide and it's easy to get around. A lot of people are walking their dogs here so it's a great space to see lots of animals.
There is parking all around the lake, both in public parking lots, as well as, parallel parking spots right on the edge of the path. You can pretty much always find a spot, unless it's super busy for an event, which isn't that frequent.
I love the view of the lake that you get from pretty much any spot around this path. There's always a great view and it really helps break things up from the monotony of City Life.
Overall: A+ A gorgeous view, plenty of parking all the way around the lake, add a large path for both biking and walking. I love this location and I have more 5Ks coming...
Read moreSo, I decided to take a leisurely stroll through Harbor Park in Orlando, thinking a bit of fresh air might balance out last night's indulgence. This park, nestled at 4990 New Broad St., offers a scenic waterfront with plenty of benches—perfect for contemplating life's choices or simply watching the world go by.
The paved walking paths are ideal for a gentle walk, and the boardwalks provide a charming view of Lake Baldwin. It's a peaceful spot, great for unwinding and perhaps burning off a fraction of those extra calories. The park's proximity to the Baldwin Park Village Center means you can easily grab a coffee or snack before or after your visit.
Whether you're looking to relax, enjoy nature, or simply escape the daily grind, Harbor Park offers a serene retreat without having to venture far from the city's...
