Winterville Parks and Rec should do BETTER. Parents should not curse someone else’s child out over a scrimmage football game. My younger brothers team played the Falcons team tonight and the mother of one of the players cursed my brother out and called him an “ugly (b word). How low can you go? How ignorant can you be to curse a child out? I thought football was to help build a child’s self-esteem, to show them what team building and being their for your fellow brother really means? Shouldn’t trash talk be left up to the players? Left on the field? It is a YOUTH football game. The immoral individual, a “mother,” decided to downgrade a child who already struggles with self-confidence, everyday! Who is bullied countless number of times in school, by his fellow peers. Yet, now he must deal will playing a sport, he is trying to grow to love, filled with loud mouth, ignorant, ghetto parents. And yet, not one referee or coach came to his defiance? Winterville Parks and Rec should set ground rules, and if the parents cannot or will not comply the parent should NOT be allowed at the games, period.
That is my take on Winterville Parks...
Read moreQuite a nice playground at this recreational area. The equipment seems to be in good condition (except the musical bits weren't operating). There were ramps at the entrances and a couple pieces of adaptive equipment (2 swings and the merry go round). Nicely shaded by mature trees and fenced in all around. I did pick up quite a bit of trash and realized there are no trash receptacles inside. There's a Free Little Library that looks like it needs some people to check it out 📚 Several benches, picnic tables, and a pavillion with 2 grills. It was quiet on a weekday...
Read moreWe absolutely love going to this park! The mature trees that provide shade for 99% of the entire park is one of our favorite parts! There are toddler swings and regular swings. Toddler sized slides and regular sized slides. It is perfect!! Very rarely are there unsupervised older kids hanging around causing any trouble. It is our go-to park for sure even though there are parks closer to our house!...
