This is a nice park separately located from where the deer Mountain parkers. It is located closer to where the 7-Eleven is across the street. There is 1 Main Rd. that traverses the whole park although there are several places you can pull off and park in parking lots. Hiking here is a Good distance as there are many places you will see along your hike. If you start at the bottom you can take all the way up along the fence line by the reservoir which will eventually take you all the way up to the edge of the cliff where they have built the condominiums. There's also a pond here and an observatory at the very top. Among the things you'll see other than the regular birds you also see turkeys and deer. ( Especially since Clifton in its greed for taxes has allowed half the mountain to be torn down ruining the habitat for the deer.) The observatory at the top is a great place to visit and look out over Patterson and Clifton. The observatory is something I've never actually been in as it is never open when I go up there. There is even a meeting once a month or so for UFO...

⚠️ ‼️‼️‼️ POTENTIAL DOG NAPPERS 🐕 ‼️‼️‼️ ⚠️

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR PETS!!

My family and I have been taking our now 5 mo old puppy to this park and we've NEVER had an experience like the following before this evening. Our experience with the park goers (usually friendly) and facility(spacious and clean) has always been positive until today.

A couple (latino male and female) in a burgundy/red trailblazer or suburban with tinted windows parked and watched us playing with our dog. The man, who remained in his car, asked if our dog was for sale to which my brother said no. And instead of just taking that answer and leaving they proceeded to slowly roll by dog park, making eye contact and observing with us until they left Rifle camp entirely. IT WAS VERY CREEPY AND SUSPICIOUS!!

This whole situation is sad because this was our favorite park that felt safe as we made lots of friends here. But now I'm concerned about ever returning. So please visit...

As a long time resident of NNJ, I have heard about this park but just never visited before. I finally made my way to Rifle Camp Park this weekend. To be honest, I've been to better parks. Some of the scenery was beautiful but it was lacking some impressive. The park only has two trails: red and yellow. The red was easier so if you're looking for more of a challenge, pick yellow. There were more inclines on yellow, rocky terrain, and more interesting scenery as well. I didn't see any maps available at the park to mark the trails but the access points are through each parking lot. The red trail did make a full loop around the park. A big plus is that majority of the hike is shaded. The park has a lot of construction ongoing so hopefully more improvements to come. Overall, I enjoyed my time here but would choose to go another park instead for more challenging hikes.

Overall, a decent park..context: I lived in NY long enough to know what a great part looks like. This park is large with an assortment of trails which are in decent condition. Some mushy areas but overall a fun easy trail. The main water attraction or body is off limits technically since it seems to be part of the water supply to Passiac county. Saw some deer and an entire family (I think!) Which was cool. Nice views of NYC from top of RED trail and some nice spots to hang out on yellow trail back. Personally I walked on trail about halfway and hiked my way across to the other and went back. It was fun overall and worth it if you're you're within a 15-20 min drive. Otherwise, odds are, something local is equal or better. I had fun tho.
