Always astounded but never surprised by @The Records Department šŸ‘ Resistance starts with education and community, and TRD is always eager and willing to provide you with both. Know the red flags and speak up when you see them. Keep making these d!ckholes uncomfortable and refuse to tolerate them. Hate has no home here, and it’s up to us to keep it that way. šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø šŸ‡²šŸ‡½ šŸ³ļøā€āš§ļø šŸ³ļøā€šŸŒˆ ā˜®ļø 216 Main St, Woodstock IL (Feel free to repost this šŸ”) #illinois #woodstockil #recordstore #smallbusiness

Kelly is KEWL and welcoming. The place hops with tunes I want to know more about. Displays are gorgeous. Selection of NEW albums is OUTSTANDING. I wanted them ALL but I need to eat. Watching a group of teens come in and talk music made this granny’s experience better and when I saw them later at a coffee shop they complimented my outfit. Kelly is helping these youth feel welcome and loved. It breeds kindness. Being a teen is hard and music helps. Thanks for the safe hangout for them and a place they will come back to with hard earned money to buy Deftones and MORE. I found a pristine used copy of The Falcon and the Snowman. Not sure if I bought it for the music or the photos of Timothy Hutton. Thankfully the David Bowie and other songs are uber cool. I’ll be back with friends! (And I live an hour and a half away and have a records store in walking distance.) I love the vending machine for local art, the rocks bubble gum machine, Snoopy buttons and kitchy items that are inexpensive. Free brand sticker too. 🤘Be sure and find this place when you are being a tourist in Woodstock for Groundhog Day etc.

The record department is the local music store you always dreamed of come true. You will find new, used, vintage and speciality vinyl records of all genres. They also have a great selection of local music, art and other treasures that support the local community. Best of all are the owners, Kelly and Michael, who are just darn good people. Stop by and you won't be disappointed!

When I travel, I make it a habit to visit record stores in other states. I've by no means visited hundreds, but I have had the good fortune to visit quite a few. That said, The Records Department is my favorite record store by far, -and- it's close to home!

The Records Department is not so huge it's overwhelming, nor is it so small it's cramped. The layout makes sense, so it doesn't make for frustrating browsing. The owners are super nice and do a lot for their local community, too. But arguably the best part? They carry a great selection of records.

Every time I've gone to The Records Department, I've left with something I haven't found anywhere else. That's really saying something. As a thrash/hardcore/punk guy, I tend to err on the side of the obscure... and I have yet to be disappointed here! That said, they carry a great selection for folks with a broad range of tastes--it doesn't cater to any single musical demographic.

I cannot recommend The Records Department any more highly. 100% worth...

The Records Department is a gem and Woodstock is truly lucky to be home to this small business. I recently needed a bunch of records for Christmas gifts and they were able to order ones for me that they didn’t have in stock. They came in quickly and the customer service could not be beat. I’ll always support a small, local business rather than give my $$ to some corporation. Especially ones like these - where the owners are kind people who actually give a rip about their community. They have also created such a cool space and open it up to host shows for art, music, special events (like a Wicked listening party - how cool is that?!) and educational opportunities. This is not just another record store or business. These are great people doing great things and I hope they are in Woodstock a good long time. Totally...
