This was my third day exploring Hanoi, and I decided to visit the zoo after hearing it was a common spot for families. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the most disappointing experiences of my trip. At first, I was curious to see the variety of animals — tigers, elephants, monkeys, and more — but that initial interest quickly turned into sadness. Many enclosures are far too small, with bare concrete floors and little to no enrichment for the animals. The elephants were chained, swaying back and forth in distress, and some animals looked lethargic or bored. Cleanliness is another major issue. Litter was scattered in several areas, the water in some enclosures was murky and stagnant, and the overall smell was unpleasant. Even more upsetting was the sheer number of large rats running freely around the grounds. Adding to the discomfort, loud amusement rides and games are located right next to animal enclosures, creating constant noise and stress for the animals. It felt more like an outdated carnival than a modern, humane zoo. To be fair, the park itself has some green spaces where people can walk or relax, but this small positive can’t outweigh the troubling conditions for the animals. Bottom line: Unless significant improvements are made to animal welfare, habitat size, and overall maintenance, I can’t recommend this place. I left feeling more heartbroken than...

You know: a zoo should guaranty the best animal care, good enclosures and must do a lot of conservation work. Here I'm shocked. I myself work in a good zoo and we work hard and try our best to provide the animals with all we can and tell people about conservation and so we keep a genetic pool from animals who are already or might be in the future endangered or even extinct in the wild. To make Sure the species survive and can be reinteoduced to their natural habitat in the future when habitats are safe and people start to think differently (like in Vietnam). The primates are also - I don't even know how describe this horror.

But Hanoi zoo; it is not a zoo, not a modern zoo, it is keeping animals for what reason ever. And the worst, they do a bad job. I have seen a lot, but this shocks me. Elephants with stereotypic behavior in chains, the cages from lions, bears, tigers and small carnivores are indescrible. Please, if you want to go - do not! And like I seid, I'm working in a zoo myself.

Government has to react and start to change their own thinking first. Animals here are really not worth more...

Thu Le Park, located in Hanoi, is a delightful blend of nature, entertainment, and wildlife. This urban oasis features a large lake surrounded by lush greenery, making it a peaceful escape from the city's hustle and bustle. The park is home to a zoo that houses a variety of animals, including Bengal tigers, hippos, elephants, and exotic birds, offering visitors a chance to connect with nature.

Families will appreciate the park's recreational activities, such as swan boat rides on the lake, rollerblading, and other fun games for children. The park also hosts cultural events and exhibitions, adding to its charm. For those who enjoy walking, the scenic paths provide a refreshing way to explore the area.

Admission fees are affordable, with discounts for children, making it an accessible destination for all. Whether you're looking to relax, enjoy outdoor activities, or learn about wildlife, Thu Le Park is a wonderful spot to spend a few...

Ha Noi Zoo, in Ba Dinh district, Ha Noi, was recognised as a tourist site according to a recent decision approved by the Ha Noi city People’s Committee. The decision also announced that Ha Noi Zoo Co. Ltd has responsibilities to manage and develop the site in accordance with the Law on Tourism and related legal documents. Established in 1976, Ha Noi Zoo, also known as Thu Le Park, covers around 29 hectares in Ngoc Khanh ward. It is home to 600 individuals of over 100 species including amphibians, saltwater fishes, mammals, and birds. More than 40 species among them are endemic species which are listed in the Vietnam’s Red Book, such as the Asian golden cat, Indochinese tiger, leopard, and Vietnamese fireback. Ha Noi Zoo joined the South East Asian Zoos Association in 1993 and has expanded its cooperation with many zoos and other wildlife conservation organisations around the world. It opens for the public from 8:00 to 18:00 every day.

Genuinely deserves no stars, the most horrific thing I have seen in my entire life, I have no idea how the heck this place is allowed to remain open.. the conditions these animals are living in is disgusting, most animals are sick, stressed, depressed and exhibiting signs of zoochosis. The enclosures are ridiculously tiny, little or no room to move around, no forms of enrichment, no food and minimal or dirty water available. The poor monkeys are literally begging for food, and there are rats everywhere including in the enclosures, the poor hippos eye was infectwd, the elephants are chained up unable to even move, animals are pacing and rocking back and forth. This place is a cruel prison and I have never felt so disgusted and heartbroken. It is beyond me how this place hasn't been closed down and how no one has stepped up to give these animals a better life or atleast put them out of this torment. SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN!!!!!
