I’ve come here countless times on weekends when the weather’s nice! At first, it might not seem that impressive—especially if you’re used to golden sand beaches—but Waiao has its own unique charm. Due to the volcanic material in the vicinity, Waiao Beach is also known to be a beautiful black sand beach. The landscape surrounding it is beautiful and you can see a lone island (Turtle Island) in the distance. According to Charles, the area can get pretty crowded during the summer months.
