We arrived at the Villas after 4 frenetic days in New York and it was the perfect place for relaxation and rejuvenation. Our room was beautiful, with a huge comfortable bed and enormous bathroom, with bath and shower. The hot water takes quite a long time to come through but when it does it’s good pressure. We were pretty much the only guests for the first part of the week and so had plenty of opportunity to ask Jackie for her advice, which she gave freely, making calls for us to book a tour and a rental car. We ate in for dinner three times in the week on pre designated evenings and each time the food was delicious with local ingredients, followed by coconut ice cream. Continental breakfast included each morning was a simple offering of fresh fruit and toast with marmalade, yogurt and cereal was available on some days but not all. There was an option of eggs on request.|The pool was good for swimming lengths before breakfast and on returning to the villa at the end of the day. Jackie provided pool and beach towels.|Dickinson Bay is about 10 minutes walk down through the garden and Road where there are some restaurants and bars and a small beach. |All beaches in Antigua are public although some hotels put security on them, it is only to make sure non residents don’t use the hotel sunbeds etc.|Highlights of the week - Jackie booked us a tour with Uncle Ted, a charming tour host who introduced us thoroughly to the island, via Rastafarian street food, demonstrations of local flora, and all the stops at places of interest. It was our first visit to Antigua so well worth this day. Then we revisited some of them when we hired a car, to spend a little more time at Nelson’s Dockyard, Betty’s Hope and drive down some of the smaller roads. All roads have potholes, some pretty deep so you have to be alert.|We caught the bus into St John’s - you just flag it down and call out stop when you want to get off. Very good value and certainly cheaper than taxis. |Favourite restaurant was the Salt Plage for a reasonably good selection and friendly service, try the ribs at lunchtime. We also went to Roots, but service was incredibly slow and whilst my husbands meal was good, the lamb casserole was disappointing for the price.|There’s so many beaches to choose from, our favourite was Darkwood which has a beautiful long beach, lots of umbrellas for hire, but was never crowded. The beachside café serves a good selection and has clean toilets.|The Villas was a lovely base from which to explore the island, Jackie’s help and hospitality made things easier, including providing aloe from the garden for sunburn, and we really enjoyed our stay. A very individual experience if you want something different from standard...
Read moreVanessa, our gracious host, made the check in process super fast and smooth. She even offered to pick us up from the airport or drive in convoy, if needed. She was always available and communication with her was prompt and clear. |Great location, on the beautiful beach of Dickenson Bay, steps away from the the sea( you can even hear the gentle waves at night from the master bedroom or sunbathe on the terrace). Villa Fantasea is within a quiet, safe, gated community. There are restaurants within walking distance, on-site convenience store and tour agency. There are taxis available at the entrance and free parking too.|The villa itself is beautiful and super conveniently located. Has a large terrace with unobstructed views of the sea, sunset and night sky. We had the 2 bedroom apartment - tastefully decorated and with artsy accents, very clean, comfortable and super well equipped. We particularly appreciated the not so small touches like the free water bottles in the refrigerator, the choices of coffee, the information booklet and above all, Vanessa's warm hospitality and willingness to assist with any needs.|The check out time is flexible! so that you can make the most of every moment on beautiful Antigua before your departure. Now that is a concept that hotels should adopt.|I have to say that I was somehow skeptical of all the "exceptional" reviews before booking this property but so glad I did cause it truly is exceptional. A heartfelt thank...
Read moreWhat an absolute gem of a place!! My daughter and I stayed here for 2 nights, prior to embarking on a cruise, and it was amazing here. The room was huge, spacious and spotlessly clean, with everything we could possibly need, with a stunning view of the sea. Jackie was a fantastic host and a brilliant chef too!! - we had jerk chicken with coconut rice and fried plantain one evening, and it was delicious. If you get the chance to eat there, then definitely choose something from her menu, you won't be disappointed. The breakfast was lovely too, with included freshly prepared fruit, toast and homemade marmalade, but with the option of eggs or omelettes if required. The setting was peaceful with lovely views over Dickenson Bay, and the lovely beach was only a 10 minute walk away via a short cut through the property. Jackie was very helpful, organising taxis for us to take us to the ship, contacted out tour company when the guide was a little late, and even drove us to the beach one day to show us where it was and the route to take back. Nothing was a problem, and we felt safe and well looked after. The other staff there were lovely too, very charming, friendly and polite and made us feel very welcome. I would definitely stay here again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Jackie and her resort to everyone. Thank you Jackie for a memorable stay in Antigua, we loved every second of...
