This little bed & breakfast is run by a lovely and helpful lady who speaks (besides Spanish) English, French and some German. The location is just ok, lying almost a bit apart of the centre. Like everything in Ushuaia the accommodation is not on the cheap side. It was the most expensive place we stayed at in nearly two months in Argentina.||Our double room was clean but quite spartanic: just white walls without any decoration, images or a mirror, a bed (which was very comfortable though) and one bed table. And there was a heater which we really needed because it was cold outside and the window didn't close properly - there was a constant air draught in the room! Not very pleasant for the person sleeping on the window side of the bed. ||The bathroom was shared by two rooms only and was very clean and well equipped (shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer).||The atmosphere of the whole place was somewhat stiff and the owner Sylvia being friendly all the time anyhow seemed a bit fussy. Surprisingly the wifi was very strong and fast. ||The breakfast was good and included a glas of liquid yoghurt. When leaving early in the morning, Sylvia prepares a lovely and generous packed breakfast to go the evening before. Unfortunately the kitchen in the breakfast room was not for communal use which would be a good opportunity to escape the elevated Ushuaia restaurant prices. ||The front door was locked all the time and you always needed a key also to leave. This might be a problem in case of an emergency like fire and was a somewhat annoying procedure every time leaving the house: unlock the door from inside and locking the door again from the outside. A door knob would really be an improvement!||In total the accommodation was not bad but also not the place obligatory not to be missed. It appears to be a good choice for middle age, undemanding visitors with an...
Read moreWe read the reviews and imagined a cozy comfortable place. Instead we found ourselves schlepping luggage down a very tricky staircase to a room best described as spartan: 2 extremely narrow beds and one night able and lamp. No closet drawers or places to put things. For 2 people it was difficult. In addition we had wanted a double bed. When we asked we were told that it was not possible. This even though no one else was there except our friend AND two other vacant rooms had a double bed. It made absolutely no sense to us and left a bad taste.||||The upstairs sitting area does nothing to induce you to hang out there which you can do only from 8 to 10 anyway: uncomfortable chairs and poor lighting.||||We basically felt as if we were intruding on someone's space so we made ourselves scarce.||||To be fair there were some good points: ample heat and hot water as well as excellent WiFi. Bathroom could have used a bathmat.||||And Silvia was helpful in answering any questions we had.||||In sum, it just was not the b and b experience we expected. Our private rooms in hostels...
Read moreI saw a few reviews noting how sparse the decor was but I personally liked how minimalist and simple the rooms felt. I didn't feel anything was missing. Our room had two comfy beds, a nightstand with lamp, some hooks, a chair, and a heater. The room and shared bathroom were spotless. Breakfast is personally served by Silvia, who was kind and helpful in sharing tips on where to go. Her living room has a assortment of souvenirs from her travels and I thought it was beautifully decorated. True that it did not exactly have a friendly hostel living room vibe, but it was still cozy and cute. We mostly spent the day out on excursions anyway. ||||I'd recommend this hotel for those looking for a quiet retreat and who don't mind the mid-range price. Yes, there are cheaper options in town, but we were...
