Cardwell @ the Beach (Lyndock Motel & Bottlemart) — Hotel in Cardwell

We were very disappointed in our stay. there were limited choices available in town due to the road being closed due to flooding so we got what was left; a family room. room was clean upon entering but had a strong chemical smell. We were by the pool but that was an eye sore as it was not functioning and looked murky. we noticed quickly how little sound proofing there was in the room. We could easily hear neighbours especially when they were outside their room and music from restaurant nearby was loud and thumping. The music did stop quite early though so that was ok. The major problem we had was we had a situation with what i think were ghost ants (after trying to identify them from internet ). i was laying in the bed reading and said to my husband i felt like something was crawling on me. i soon after noticed this very small bug crawling on my arm. i freaked out and inspected the bed to find two more on top of the bottom sheet. i wanted to leave and go elsewhere but we had taken a sleeping pill. There was no infroamtion in room of who to call if there was a problem (didn’t have an information sheet that is usually found in motel rooms of how to contact someone) i went to the bottle shop which is where we checked in but it was closed. i ended sleeping in one of the other twin beds in room and did not see any more bugs but i didn’t sleep well and felt anxious about it. The next morning my husband also found a roach in the bathroom. i reached out to the motel and explained our situation via email but was told it was too late as i needed to get someone to help to resolve the issue at the time ( i had tried to do this unsuccessfully). they did apologize and offered us to come back to stay again for a complimentary stay but would not refund any portion of the room for our troubles. We were just passing through so no way to take them up on offer but i would not want to stay again anyway after our experience here. My advice is try a different...

I chose this motel for a night stop over as the photos showed the establishment to be in better condition than some others online. The exterior of the motel looks tidy but this was where it ended. If I could give 0 stars I honestly would. ||The interior was likely renovated quite some time ago and is due for another. Walls were extremely mouldy and this is from someone who grew up in a very wet place. Shower curtain was mouldy and the bottom too long and likely never dried. Bathroom window flyscreen was caked with dirt. The nice green wall in the photo did not look like this. It had worn patches and patches that also appeared mouldy. We attempted to sit on the stools at the table to eat some dinner but there was no padding on the chairs so your bum sagged below your thighs and was extremely uncomfortable. See photo of an empty kettle sitting on the chair for reference. The bedding consisted of one fitted sheet and a flat sheet. There was a blanket in the cupboard, but after seeing the cleanliness of the room, we chose not to use it. The motel did not appear to be fully booked, however they chose to locate patrons all together. The walls are thin, likely not core filled, and the people next door dragged their bar stools around until late into the night and made who knows how many trips to their car before leaving on sunrise in the morning. Very inconsiderate people, which I understand management cannot control, however I don’t understand locating patrons next door to each other when there are ample rooms vacant.||There was nice hot water and the shower had good pressure. The location seemed quite safe. I’d recommend viewing my photos and making your own decision on the current state of the property from recent photos...

Me and my mum are looking for a house to rent in cardwell and we stayed here for 6days on the 5th night the people next door to us at 1:00am in the morning where partying very loudly so I called and asked nicely for them to be quit and there kids kept coming into our room the parents would not do a thing so I called the (week end managers) she told me to (deal with it) that's when I said okay fine thanks I hung up I wasnt happy anyways the next day my mum was out side having a smoke and the manager walked past as she was cleaning the rooms she asked mum how was her morning mum said yeah it was okay other then the people next door the manager commented this is a motel not a home and she started yelling at mum I heard her I went out and asked why she walked away and then come back pushed me through a door that we paid $450 a week for 2 people and then she got her husband and he came and abused us so much my mum is very sick right now and she has heart conditions and she dosnt need that she could of had a heart attack he told me that we had untill 12 o'clock that day to get out or he 2ould call police for abuse so I said okay no worries we will leave it was 11:00am when he said all this I would never recommend this place the owners are great but not the managers the managers have q dog it jumped up on me every time I went to the camp kitchen and it even stole my food from a plate in my hands because he jumps up on me the hot water system its completely stupid they need an upgrade they are very rude dont go...
