Really craving great seafood dinner. Thought Muddy's might have had crab but alas no. That's ok, seafood chowder on the menu - but not available on this occasion. Sweet chilli prawns for entree was sensational. Fresh fat yummy prawns. Resorted to fisherman's basket for mains - which is something I don't normally eat. Crumbed food not for me. However, it was a huge plate of food - big perfectly cooked calamari, prawn cutlets, gulf caught mackerel and some huge fresh whole King prawns. Hubby had garlic prawns which he said were the best and mackerel which he enjoyed. I would like to have seen more fresh, uncrumbed seafood options. Service was very friendly but slow. Slow sad country music by none other than Willy Nelson might be a chef favourite but seriously made our evening quite dreary. The resident cat wrapping itself around my legs at my dinner table was not an added...
Read moreVisited a couple of weeks ago. We were the only ones when we first got there as we were fairly early. Garlic bread was OK. Mornay oysters were watery and cold under the cheese hubby wasn't impressed. He then had garlic cream prawns (or similar). He swore it was the same sauce as the oysters and not very garlicky. My steak (after being told my first choice wasn't available) was excellent.. done to perfection. I'd heard the microwave going off a few times and wondered about it, another diner had arrived and ordered mornay oysters. Overnight hubby was up to the toilet 4 times, also felt unwell in the stomach. This continued gradually lessening during the day following. Suspect some of the sauces are pre-prepared and could gave been the problem. Wouldn't go back, we felt it was overpriced for...
Read moreStopped by after visiting Paronella and have to say I’m glad we did. We were looking forward to a nice quiet dinner with a couple of beers and Muddy’s absolutely nailed it. We were the only patrons in and one of the owner’s made us feel so welcome by playing some old school Aussie classics in the background for us. Muddy’s also doesn’t do schooners, instead going for the old school stubby’s in the cooler which we loved!! We did have to wait a little bit for the food to be delivered, however we more than happy to enjoy the weather and cold beers on the verandah. When the food did arrive we were blown away by how delicious everything tasted, even down to the pepper gravy which for once actually had pepper in it! If you’re ever driving through Cardwell, it’s worth your...
