Red Chief Motel — Hotel in Gunnedah

Room was very basic, it had a microwave but no cutlery to use. Was quiet & off the main road. However the police were in the car park with the red & blue lights on, so that was a little unsettling in the middle of the night when we it woke myself & my children up. We requested a late check out as we had driven 7 & 1/2 hours with children arriving at 21:30hrs. This was declined with no explination. We required WiFi which the motel advertised it had however after checking in, there was no password provided in the room. We had to call the reception number to get the password. The morning of checkout my 11 year old son was approached in the carpark by the owner/manager & she expressed how she was unhappy that we woke her up at 2200hrs to find out the password! Paid $268 for two nights in the most disgusting room ive ever seen. Bed sheets stained from god knows what. Carpets look like they have never been vacuumed. Rubbish hidden in every nook and cranny. Bathroom had mould throughout, also toilet was leaking from base. No hot water at all and the ladie at front desk did not care, about 15 people complained about the same problem and she still did not care. Most staff are completely rude and make extremely rude remarks toward you also 1 staff member was accusing a few men of being gang members just because they are on motorcycles. Only 1 younger aboriginal staff member was nice, she is the only reason this place gets a star.

Really rude dismissive staff, the woman at reception was gruff and rude during check in. When my son went to reception to ask about wifi she looked at him and told him "just wait" and proceeded to make a phone call. free wifi doesn't work at all. Tge woman said, and i quote "it might work, it might not." Wifi was presenter on website as a facility. Really over priced rooms are old, grungy and smell like sewage. We were very unhappy.
