Happy Valley Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Gunnedah

We ordered sweet and sour pork, lemon chicken and special fried rice. The meal was absolutely disgusting. I’ll have to say it was the worst Chinese we have ever eaten. We couldn’t even finish the meal, it got tossed into the bin. Both the pork and chicken were hardly present, it was mostly soft sloppy batter. The sauces in both meals were very ordinary to say the least. The special fried rice was far from special. In my experience special fried rice has always had large prawns, slices of pork and slices chicken as well as some vegetables. This “special fried rice” not only tasted terrible it only had a few slithers of chicken in it and a few tiny frozen prawns that had the consistency of mashed potatoes. The presentation of the restaurant was very ordinary. The floors were dirty and covered with leaves and dried mud. I know it was windy that day but surely they own a broom and mop. Ordered takeaway tonight from Happy Valley, what a mistake that was. Ordered prawn chow mein , sweet and sour pork, fried rice and spring rolls. Spring rolls were filled with some sort of tasteless mush, fried rice was tasteless and dry, sweet and sour pork was more batter than pork with a few slivers of zucchini and carrot and prawn chow mean had very few prawns, a spattering of carrot and zucchini and a container full of tasteless cornflour thickened water. The worst Chinese we have ever had and they had the hide to charge nearly $75 for it. We will never step foot inside this...

We have eaten here several times but recently it’s gone downhill. The last time we ate in, we had to chase up our drinks order three times with two different staff members and our food took forever to arrive.

Tonight we decided to have takeaway. We were told the order would be ready in 20 minutes when we ordered on the phone but the food actually took 45 minutes from the time of our order. When I got home (only a three minute drive) the entree was almost cold and the main meals were lukewarm.

There won’t be a third chance, it’s time to find another...
