Grand Mercure Basildene Manor - Margaret River "A Little Slice of Heaven" I have never felt so compelled to write a review on a Hospitality Establishment, as I was for this hidden gem on Wallcliffe Rd, Margaret River. From the moment my partner & I drove up the driveway, we could sense there was something very special about this highly recommended 6 Star Resort. Its most rare to come across a resort that oozes "Old World Charm", yet you feel like you're in a brand new property. The botanical gardens are breathtaking and the rooms are exquisitely appointed with a decor befitting this Heritage Listed Property. The staff treat you like family and are so very eager to please. They endeavour to accommodate your every wish, and in my humble opinion, do not fall short of the mark. My only regret is that we didn't book a longer stay. On our 1st day we were treated to a scrumptious Afternoon Tea, complete with the most delicious scones I have ever eaten, served with real heavy thickened cream and home made jam. Most hotels/resorts would be lucky to have 2 or 3 premium teas on offer. The Grand Mercure Basildene Manor had a dozen exotic teas and another dozen varieties of delicious pod coffee. There were complimentary ginger nut cookies, and real full cream milk, as opposed to the horrible tasting low fat milks that other properties try to pass off as a nutritious alternative. When we finally sat down at our table by the window and looked out upon the magnificent and meticulously well manicured botanical gardens, I thought I died and went to heaven. Despite the fact that my phone camera takes the most beautiful pictures, no camera could do this view justice. It was literally "Breathtaking". When the waitress served us our special order gluten-free scones, she asked if we had seen the wine cellar, to which I replied not yet. Then, I hobbled over to an anti-room, which I affectionately and colloquially call a "Den". There was a open hearth fireplace with real flames and artificial logs that looked as real as can be. In the floor was a double-glazed tempered glass panel that allowed you to view their hidden wine cellar...how interesting. Antique furniture and comfortable sofas and chairs complimented by limited edition framed prints tracing the history of the region and the heritage listed property. Our breakfast the next day was equally impressive, with a array of fresh fruits and melons, cereals, homemade cakes, scones, and a choice of a cooked breakfast or Continental. Yes, 6 Star without a doubt, and I'm giving it a 9.9 rating out of 10. Do yourself a favour a book a couple of days at least to soak up the unparalleled atmosphere of everything this exceptional resort...
Read moreWow what can we say about this place, but firstly I want to say a MASSIVE thankyou to Justine, Daniela and Helena, they genuinely are the nicest hotel staff I have ever had the pleasure of meeting, Justine went above and beyond for us all our entire stay she deserves a pay rise, she deserves EVERYTHING, incredible!
From the moment we arrived we knew this was going to be a beautiful stay. The location is just out of Margret river town centre, however, if you did want to walk it’s roughly 25/30 minutes, there is taxi companies available provided by the hotel, our taxi lady was incredible (she gave us a dozen eggs). The grounds this accomodation is on are so beautiful, I enjoyed my morning coffee down by the little water feature with roo’s on the grounds, there’s an outdoor swimming pool and tennis court available also.
The breakfast we got included was beautiful, so many choices of hot and cold food, local fresh jam and organic fruit. unlimited coffee and tea 24/7 with a selection of every milk you can think of. the staff genuinely can not do enough for you.
The rooms are lovely and spacious with a pristine en suite. Plenty of fresh towels and beautiful products to use during our stay
There’s a little lounge area with an open fire where we enjoyed scones and tea provided by the hotel with a game of scrabble
On our last day here we agreed to do an hour presentation with the Accor team and in return we got a $200 voucher (which we used for a 5 course meal) at Rustico at Hay Shed Hill.

Read moreFrom the moment we stepped in the door, we were treated to a five star experience. The staff were friendly, professional and very helpful. The Superior Studio room we stayed in was luxuriously appointed and spacious, perfect for a week’s holiday. The bathroom is spacious and includes a full bath. The room has a coffee machine and small fridge and a huge television, with complimentary wi-fi. The manor itself is simply gorgeous and the extension at the back of the manor has been done in a style well in keeping with the manor itself. The manor is located just outside of the Margaret river township but in easy drive or walk if you prefer to the multiple restaurants and cafes in Margaret river. The dining room, which serves breakfast only, is a delightful sunlit room with views over the gorgeous manor gardens, which include a tennis court, small lake, swimming pool and bbq areas. The dining room also opens for complementary cake and coffee each afternoon, with the cakes freshly baked on premises and always delicious. A lovely touch at the end of our stay was being presented with some freshly baked scones to enjoy on our trip home. It was our first time visiting Basildene but it certainly won’t be our last. If you are looking for a quiet luxurious week to rest and relax, or a base to explore the great southwest corner of this magnificent country, do yourself a favour and stay at Basildene Manor, you...
