Title: Disappointing Stay and False Accusations

Our stay at Roo’s Retreat was far from pleasant due to several issues, and the host’s behavior made it even more frustrating.

Firstly, the host accused us of burning a hole in the carpet, which is absolutely false. Yes, we used a mosquito scent burner, but it was enclosed with a lid and base designed to prevent any damage. The accusation is baseless and upsetting.

On one evening, the water heater stopped working because the gas cylinder leaked. While we provided feedback, the host was initially unwilling to address the issue, citing her illness. We had to boil water multiple times just to take showers. Eventually, thanks to her husband David—who managed to call for help while he was away—the issue was resolved the next day. Kudos to him, but the host’s lack of responsiveness was disappointing.

Additionally, the hygiene standards of the property were below expectations. We had to clean the floors ourselves because they were too dirty to walk on barefoot. Even the outdoor BBQ area was infested with roaches, making it unusable. When we informed the host, she dismissively said there was nothing she could do. Is this the standard Airbnb hosts are supposed to maintain?

To make matters worse, there was a power outage during our stay. Once again, the host was unavailable to assist, and it was David who resolved the issue remotely. The manual provided at the property did not include clear instructions for such situations.

Despite all these inconveniences, we left the house in a spotless condition, only to be called a disappointment by the host. This is completely uncalled for and deeply upsetting.

Airbnb should ensure that hosts maintain their properties to a reasonable standard and treat guests with respect. I wouldn’t recommend staying at Roo’s Retreat unless significant...
