Grande Bistro — Restaurant in Margaret River

Got a great deal through Groupon... 2 nights w/ brekky, $25 voucher + 2 glasses of wine 🍷 Everything about Stay MR was beautiful including the 2 ducks, 3 bandicoots & some large black lizard just out our front door where we feed them & they hung around for a while... I didn’t like the takeaway menu sorry! salad socked in something & so small for the price truffle chips tasteless & dry. I don’t eat squid but rm mate said it tasted like flour also menu limited for vegetarians. The packaging looked better than the food... So I took it back which is never a nice thing to do Especially when everything else is just so lovely Sorry... My approach might not have been nice as people where around and watching... My apologies to the gentleman in the restaurant!!! However we did eat in the restaurant brekky yum... Tricky expensive menu. Ordered Bruschetta and warm Camembert cheese on last night that came out on its own so we had to ask what else the cheese came with (nothing) so we ordered garlic bread which I wouldn’t eat strange menu... Bruschetta yum. Service was great however they need to understand the menu so it works for the customer... I enjoyed my experience and I certainly would recommend and go back myself... Having enjoyed eating here in the past, during my stay at the Stay Margaret River motel, I was very disappointed. The menu is now tapas style and anything you order will arrive in the order it is cooked, so some strategy in ordering is required if you want an entre before your 'mains' courses. This ought to make it very easy for the kitchen to deliver properly cooked food at a high standard. However, the baked cheese arrived in it lone little dish, melted on the outside but cold inside and studded with raw bitter garlic. Conclusion: Cheese was quickly microwaved, not baked. Other disappointments included lukewarm soggy fries and with the BBQ filet steak kebabs, one skewer was cooked perfectly but its twin skewer was badly overdone and I did not eat it. Portion sizes are not good value for money either. As a result, I'll be eating elsewhere in future. Note to owner: I did provide feedback, both after the meal in the restaurant and at the front desk when I checked out. I also heard another guest complain about cold food as she was making payment. It's a real shame because I really did quite like the place before. I sincerely hope you listen to your customers feedback and take the opportunity to do...

My wife and I were very impressed with the professionalism and efficiency of the manager - Justin Hickman, and the friendliness and prompt service of the staff. The rooms were very neat and clean and the whole layout of the rooms was excellent with ample parking close to the rooms. It was also so nice to have an excellent restaurant as the Willow Grill on the premises thus having to avoid finding a place to dine outside of the premises and again excellent choice and variety of menu together with the prompt and friendly service from the staff. Added to this was also a beautiful swimming pool and wonderful surrounds.My reason for coming to the Stay was to find out if they could accommodate a group from a vintage car club that I represented and would be passing through in a few months time and was put at ease after talking to the manager that the group which consisted of 30 - 40 could be easily accommodated there as they were already experienced with this type of booking.
