Wouldn’t return, next time I visit I will seek other accomodation. Only reason for 2 stars is most staff seemed nice enough and it’s in a nice location. (Changed to 1 star, see edit) We booked for 5 nights at $270 a night which was quite pricey but seemed reasonable given that it looked very tidy and nice. Upon arrival we checked into our family room and while we sorted ourselves out I put my 1 year old down to crawl around on the carpeted floor after a very long trip. Within 15 minutes her feet and knees were covered in black filth from the carpet. Considering I couldn’t let her go on the floor at all we have now spent 3 days so far having to hold her 24/7 which is frustrating for us and her.
Upon further inspection of the room we found the whole room was rather unclean, spiders in the bathroom and bugs all over windowsills, lots of little bits and pieces under the bed that have obviously never been vacuumed. (Also an issue with a crawling baby) We put up with this and didn’t make a fuss because we didn’t want to make a scene. The next day we decided to go for a swim in the pool. It was absolutely disgusting, bugs all through it, and clearly never gets cleaned. The BBQ facilities they list on their website include 1 single bbq that is to be shared between all 40 rooms that looks like it doesn’t get cleaned.
I could have dealt with all these things and just quietly chosen not to return, however we approached the front desk lady to see if we could possibly cancel the last night of our stay (2 days in advance) as we had a family issue happen 11 hours away back home that we need to get back to. She said that since they’ve now missed out on booking this room out she couldn’t cancel it (there is still bookings available online, I checked so they haven’t missed out on any money at all) and that we should just ‘relax and enjoy our stay’. This after telling her we had a family issue pop up.
For $1460 for 5 nights I expected a LOT more and while the hotel looks nice at a first glance, once you get a glimpse under the facade it is definitely not worth what they charge.
**edited to say: we moved to a different room for the last 2 nights of our stay and upon entering the new room discovered it was just as dirty. There was a used Band-Aid under one bed, a used tissue under another and a pair of men’s socks under the side table so the cleaning team hadn’t really cleaned at all before we moved. Upon discovering this we spoke to the lady at the front desk who accused us of planting the rubbish (and apparently the dirt all over the carpet) to get a refund. We were disgusted by her accusations and the dirtiness of the 2 rooms we had so far been assigned so ended up telling her we refused to stay under any circumstances and she ended up canceling and refunding our stay for the last 2 nights.
DO NOT BOOK HERE. It’s dirty and the staff...
Read moreWe really enjoyed our stay at Sanctuary Inn on Westernport. The location was a perfect base to enjoy the Mornington and surrounding area. The room had everything we needed and was recently renovated, staff were very welcoming and there was lots of parking onsite. There was a brand new swimming pool and the bed was also made everyday which was appreciated. I wanted to note down a few nice to haves and some small items that bothered us a bit. There was no body wash in our room, wasn't sure if this was a mistake or not something the venue usually provides. One of the dining chairs in our room had a large stain on it. There was also a stain on one of our floor towels. The room had lots of dust built up in those more hard to reach areas - for example top of the shower head, bottom shelf of the bedside tables and some spider webs scattered around the room. Think a deep clean is probably required more regularly for those neglected areas. We did appreciate the venue is still renovating and things are probably quite manic at the moment. The bed was on the soft side and the quality of the sheets didn't match the standard of the overall room in our opinion. These were only small issues and they certainly wouldn't stop us from staying there again or recommending the accommodation to others. Overall extremely satisfied with our stay and these small considerations will take you from a 5 to...
Read moreRoom looked to be missed on the clean previous to our stay, carpet needed a decent clean, a heap of spider webs and spiders and insects in all corners of the room, used ear bud in side table, empty takeaway container from previous guest left under couch, fridge left unclean and shower also dirty.
Nicely renovated room, comfy bed and friendly staff/owners, good location for exploring the peninsula. Would stay here again, only fault was cleanliness, which may not have been the case for the other rooms.
Visited the restaurant after a big day exploring, waited roughly 40 minutes for food was super excited to eat, unfortunately the food was pretty disappointing and overpriced for what was served. Ordered a carbonara which tasted nothing like a carbonara would usually taste, the sauce all pooled in the bottom of plate like a water consistency. Bruschetta just tasted of oil with barely any other flavour but and the kid’s margarita was rock hard and pretty flavourless, something I would have thought to have been been bought in the frozen isle at a grocery store. Maybe a bad day in the kitchen or problems due to covid. The arancini balls where the...
