Smart Motels Bert Hinkler — Hotel in Millbank

This was the WORST hotel I have stayed in ever. When you pull up you have to go to the reception of the motel next door which looks beautiful and the staff are lovely and nothing is a hassle but don’t be fooled. You’re not staying in that motel. You’re next door..... in an old run down motel that doesn’t have anything they advertise (no reception, no restaurant, terrible wifi, etc etc) so they we go onto The old lady that owns the Smart Motel Berk Hinkler.... she needs to reevaluate her attitude and customer service skills. She was the rudest, most ignorant and incompetent person to my partner and I. When someone tried to gain access to our room we were told if we didn’t like it then pack up and check out. We were told that The people that tried to get into our room were her “regular guests” so she doesn’t believe they would do that. Trust me I woke up at 6am to them doing it. The room was dirty and dusty, I spent the entire weekend having to buy allergy medication just so that I could function. We were blocked from our park outside our room due to other guests and were told nothing we can do about it. This was the response with every issue we told them about. I could go on for pages and pages and pages but my main advice is STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! I did not feel safe at all. We are strongly considering taking this even further. She does not deserve to own this hotel as she is just letting it run into the ground. Her running this motel comprises...

I will preface this by saying I did get a refund for my room. The short story is don’t stay here. Firstly the photos advertising the room seem to be many years old. The room had mold on the ceiling. The aircon barely worked. We found cockroaches, the carpet was stained, cracks in the wall and the service was not great. The shower didn’t drain and I doubt any of this was fixed. The worst thing of all was that the shower in the room did not drain. Admittedly by the time I realised it wasn’t working it was late like 9:30pm.but when I rang the guy at the desk he did not care and told me too bad you have to wait till morning. And quite snarkily said well if you can find another a hotel I’ll refund you but good luck . So I did find another hotel tried to ring to check out and got ignored. I rang the following morning to try and get a refund and a proof of refund. To which he said yes and asked if I could do him a favour and cancel through where I booked. which I tried to do but couldn’t. About 6 hours later I still hadn’t heard anything and headed back in to reception and the guy kept on coming up with excuses saying that his plumber found nothing wrong and he won’t get commission for anything. In the end he did give me a refund but I have many doubts about anything that I reported wrong...

I know my title leaves us with nowhere to go in the future but honestly steer clear of this place.||We booked it as a family 2 day stay whilst touring Central Queensland. Upon arrival we were greeted by the worst smelling reception ever it was like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. We asked for adjoining rooms and whilst we knew we would not get 5 star we did expect a clean room, showers and not to find someone else’s underwear on the floor.
