They are not dog friendly despite their hollow words. Their policy is - excludes the Easter period and Christmas/New Year peak period. No dates specified. It’s the 25th of Jan and was turned away from a booking made 4 months ago with my 10 Year old lab specified on the booking. Holiday periods over, we’re back to work. Keen to see when the no kid period is, I’m over letting the kids belly rub my dog. I take that back he and I enjoy their company. Reception certainly gave me cat people vibe. Port Elliot is amazing, the caravan park not so much. Response to reply - You need to read your own rules, Easter is excluded as well so not all year round. Face it you tolerate dogs during the periods where your revenue is down. Anyone reading this and has a companion go to Middleton caravan park. The owners have their own wonderful dogs. Pipi's, pub, beach are all far more accommodating if you had the good sense to not procreate.

Did you know - There is only 700 to 800 Hooded Plovers in SA. Sad roped off site today in Big 4 Park. Family of 6 Hooded Plovers gave in to protecting the nest of 4 eggs after approx. 14 days. Hen bird stayed on the eggs after the other family birds flew away, not able to assist her anymore. She has now abandoned her 4 eggs. I believe this incubation failed due to the threatening influx of nearby dogs & inquisitive people in the caravan park for the long weekend holiday. My suggestion for future nestings which should occur. 1. Appropiate signage of bird site for park visitors education. 2. Protective boundary fencing ie 'Plastic Bunting'. ' Let's protect the Hooded Plover in SA '

Lovely caravan park. Good facilities - central playground area, BBQs, etc. Toilet and shower blocks very clean, look as though they have recently been updated (new tiles, etc). Powered sites decent size. Trees dotted between sites created nice shade. Reasonable price and good security (boom gates at entry/exit which require a unique code). Also, pet friendly. Dogs allowed, but must remain on lead at all times. Good location too - right on the beach, lots of nice walks around, and a short drive to Middleton and Victor Harbour. Really nice getaway - will return again.

Lovely caravan park with great facilities, we were having a family weekend away with 5 other family members, all in caravans. We had a great site location close to the beach , Sites were of a good size and not on top of each other. Grassed areas were lovely and maintained. At night, you could hear the waves crashing on the sand. The beach was lovely, sandy, and clean, great for throwing a towel down and relaxing by the water, and taking the kids with sand buckets in hand. A short walk to Port Elliot if you wanted to go and explore the town centre or needed grocery items. Facilities at the park were good, toilets and shower areas clean. Lovely play area for the kids and the shared kitchen space great.

In regards to service, my initial contact with the park was by phone, and I couldn't fault the two calls I had initially made. The woman over the phone was lovely and helpful. However, on arrival, there was a query on our booking, (which I had amended over the phone and had confirmed with an email), I found the male who served me to be condescending and rude. I explained that i had spoken with a woman the afternoon before arrival, and she had put a note against our booking and another member of the group we were with. I gave him the details of people we were camping with and his response was " he doesn't know who I spoke with but he knew nothing about it and couldn't help me due to confidentiality of customers, and rules surrounding confidentiality etc to do with domestic violence, custody issues" etc which I totally understand as I have worked in those areas. He offered no suggestions, i asked him to look up the other persons info to see if any notes were against their booking, he grumbled about that again saying he couldn't confim they were there "due to privacy" his tone, wording he used, was condescending, facial expressions and body language was rude. I couldn't access my booking info due to an internet issue initially, and I had to make a quick call to confirm details from the other family members. So i stood to one side, so i didn't hold up anyone else waiting to book in. (1 other customer) He commented to that customer that he would serve them because "at least they were organised." Once info was confirmed, he then progressed to book me in. I asked for a gate code to enable me to take my car in to unload again his response was rude " he couldn't give me a code, but I could drive my car in, unload, and bring my car out and "he would be watching me".

Says the man who was so concerned about confidentiality that he had a list of potential guests and their phone numbers in full view on the counter. Please don't cite information unless you yourself are aware of processes involving confidentiality. Yes, he may have had a bad morning, but the whole process only took a few minutes and would have been quicker if he looked up the information I had given him as "yes, he confirmed it was noted on booking " I had proof of ID etc.

The customer behind me also commented when I walked out as their car was behind mine that "he was rude (to me) and he must have had a bad morning", Other than the booking in experience, we had a...

CABIN # 8, for 3 nights.|It is disappointing to pay to stay in accommodation where the level of cleaning is so low.|As a guest who is expected to pay IN ADVANCE days prior to arrival, we are left wondering how we will receive compensation of any substance.||1. Freezer: almost completely iced up, so badly that it was un-usable. We had freezer items, so my husband had to clear out the ice himself - not an easy task, and took him 15 minutes or so to do. We really don't feel that it is up to the guest to perform this task. As a side note, the freezer in Cabin 6 was the same (as our friends were staying in that Cabin during the same time) and we also observed the fridge in Cabin 7 being removed in between guests, and the freezer was the same. So ours was not a lone issue.|2. Exhaust fan in the bathroom: absolutely covered in dust, indicating it has not been cleaned in a very long time.|3. Dirt between the fridge and the wall: Again, completely filthy, indicating that the task of cleaning thoroughly has not been done in a long time.|4. Top of the wardrobe opposite the double bed (where the TV sits) is full of dust. Again indicating that this cleaning task has not been done in a long time. |As someone who does not cope well with accumulated dust in the room where I sleep, I certainly have no wish to tolerate it when I travel and pay for accommodation.||In addition to the below standard cleaning of our Cabin, we also note the absolutely disgraceful state of the ceiling fans in the Camp Kitchen.|In a space where people are cooking and eating, the amount of dirt, dust and grime on the fans is unacceptable.||As part of the BIG4 holiday park network, who (according to their website) were voted number one for location, experience, cleanliness, and service, my experience is quite the opposite.|In a word - don't bother with the cabins.|We also had to ask for the bins in the camp kitchen to be emptied - they were over flowing. The attitude of the staff was that they don't...
