Tonight we went to the Hotel Elliot for dinner. We arrived about 7:15 with no booking. ‘Table for 2 available’ - yes, she said, ‘you’ll need to put a mask on’ - I said ‘no-one else has masks on’ as I perused the dining room. ‘I can’t assist you if you don’t wear a mask, I’m sorry’ she said. We found our masks, put them on and walked TWO (2) steps to our table…2 steps!! Then removed our masks. Pllllease!! The power has gone to their heads!! We ordered a drink and reviewed the extensive menu. Lots of typical pub food and reasonably priced. We ordered the crumb garfish. We didn’t have to wait long before our meals were served. Delicious crumbed garfish, chips, salad, tartare sauce and lemon. The meal was very tasty, we were hungry after playing golf all day. The service was excellent. We sat for a while watching people coming and going. None of the customers were wearing masks as they paid for their meals. The waiters/esses were all wearing masks, some around their chins, some under their noses….we watched as three customers paid their bills, without masks. Hubby wandered over to pay for our meals and who should serve him, but the Mask Queen of Hoel Elliot. ‘I can’t serve you unless you wear a mask’ she told hubby….some people just love the power. SA is THE only state in the nation where the wearing of masks is mandated…ok, if you’re going to enforce it but at least be consistent. The Corio pub at Goolwa, no-one is wearing them…even the people behind the bar….eeeeish! ...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ripper Feed at Hotel Elliot

You can’t go wrong with a visit to Hotel Elliot—it’s one of those classic SA pubs that gets everything right. We dropped in recently for a proper feed and were absolutely stoked with the whole experience.

Kicked things off with a bunch of share plates: the fried halloumi, salt & pepper squid, corn ribs, duck spring rolls, chicken wings, hummus & olives, salt & pepper tofu and pork belly bites. Every dish hit the mark—crispy, tasty, and full of flavour. The pork belly, in particular, was a standout—sticky, rich, and totally moreish.

For mains we tackled the prawn linguine, white wine and basil chicken breast, Angus porterhouse, and wagyu rump steak. Spot on. The seafood was fresh and zesty, the chicken was packed with flavour, and the steaks were juicy and cooked just right—couldn’t fault ’em.

Rounded things off with a pavlova and an affogato—the perfect sweet finish. The pav was light and airy with a good hit of berries, and the affogato? Strong coffee and a cheeky shot—can’t beat it.

The atmosphere was awesome—casual, coastal, and full of good vibes. Service was top-notch too—friendly, relaxed, and they made us feel right at home.

All up, a cracking night out at a top-notch local. If you’re down the Fleurieu way, make sure you pop into Hotel Elliot for a feed. You...

I’ve been a happy customer here for years, but unfortunately received really bad service recently. Previously when I have come here, my food allergies have been well accommodated, and staff have been really friendly & helpful- I’ve even left positive reviews in the past! This time though, was really disappointing. I was left with no options at all in their restaurant, which has honestly never happened to me before anywhere (!). The server was not interested and didn’t care that I would not be able to eat safely at their restaurant, and treated me like I was wasting his time. Thankfully went a few doors down to Crisp and had a great meal. Would not recommend if you have any sort of dietary requirements, as staff are not interested in helping find any solutions or offering any advice. Unfortunately don’t think I will ever feel safe enough to return here, as my experience was so poor to not be able to trust them to accomodate my allergies safely in future, which is a shame as I have enjoyed coming...

Hello everyone, I’ve come down here from the Barossa with a couple mates and might I say I am extremely disappointed! First off I got my steak which I ordered rare, now as seen in the photos provided you can clearly see this is the furthest from bleeding. Secondly there was not cutlery at my table so I asked a young waiter for a fork if possible and her reply was “they’re at the bar you can go grab them”. I was shocked with the service after being asked for tip at the bar upon ordering. Lastly, (no that’s not all) my mate just received his food to only realise there was a lady bug in it. Some say this is good luck, some say to never kill one, I say don’t put it in my food! I’ll never come here ever again!!! Upside the live band was good and the lead singer was a very kind human being.

Nice pub, good for small get together, though my order was wrong and got two mains and paid the price for it. The squid was amazing but the Coast to Coast pizza really wasn't worth the $31 I paid for it. I had to stop eating it as it just was not that great plus the extra main I got. The drinks (spirits) were expensive and watered down. JD and coke was 8.80 and a Great Northern was 9.30 for a bottle. Just not worth. This Pub got two stars because of the live singer here tonight. Hope they bring him in again.
