Drummoyne Birkenhead Hotel — Hotel in Sydney

I just received a phone call from the Hotel staff saying my room booking has been canceled due to overbooking. He specifically quoted that a long-stay tenant would take the room I had booked.

I asked why my room was being canceled as I booked over the phone on 1/10/2022, it was explained to me that the hotel was already completely booked at the time and that a staff member error was at fault. This was because they had two booking books, one for a short stay and one for a long stay.

I asked if anything could be done, and the response was straight no. I would not recommend booking any type of short-stay accommodation, as it seems your booking can be canceled fairly abruptly with no real warning so close to your event date.

My booking date was 17/12/2022, this may seem a reasonable time of notice of overbooking but I question why it has taken 7 weeks for someone to let me know of the overbooking. Now I need to book a much more expensive hotel to stay close to my event or book a hotel further away to find something in a similar price range, but then have to fork well over a hundred dollars extra in transport to and from my event.

This is not a great experience and I won't recommend this place to stay, I know it won't make much of a difference but I hope potential customers have a fair warning of...

If there was an option for no stars I would have chosen it. So disappointed with this place which was once my local. We went there last weekend for a friends daughters 11th birthday. We had entrees and mains and then wanted to sing happy birthday with a cake and candles we brought from home. We were told that this wasn't allowed and it would cost us $20!!!!! We decided to buy some ice cream instead and just sing happy birthday without eating the cake. Just as we were about to burst into song, a waitress came up and said sarcastically "I'm glad to see you are following our instructions and eating the cake anyway". I was mortified that she would be so rude and ruin a young girls birthday. Of course I gave her a piece of my mind but it really ruined the whole night. More interested in talking amongst themselves and enjoying “ their time “ than the customers .

I asked for their most expensive meal , $47 steak and it was fatty and no taste , no flavour!

I didn’t want money back , I didn’t care but the absolute lack of care shown by the “ Manager “ in the kitchen was absolutely disgusting!

High standards are high standards, if I had somebody complain about anything I’d want to know why , this this guy , he’d rather hold his coffee and chat to the staff about how good he was , again so disrespectful!

Do not eat here !!
