Another visit here and was equally delighted with my beverage and desserts. The staff are passionate about chocolate and you can really tell this in your interactions with them. Not only are they really friendly, they are extremely knowledgeable too.
I chose to go with my usual drink of choice which is a Mocha. This one was blended well with their high quality chocolate and wasn’t too sweet but sweet enough! When you stare at their cabinet full of freshly made baked goods you can’t help but want to devour everything. I managed to contain myself and got the Three Kings Cookie which had a heavenly mix of macadamia nuts, hazelnuts, and chocolate. It was a soft cookie but could’ve wolfed down more of them. I shared it with my friends as didn’t want to be a glutton. I did get one to go as well. The Cacao X Salted Caramel Cake is rich but not overly sweet which means you’ll be able to get through this slice. It is flourless so it is good for the gluten intolerant. I love how on the menu it stated how many chocolate beans go into each item. At the cabinet it is self serve if you wish or if dining in, they’ll bring it to your table with the drinks. I’m particularly fussy about my rocky road. I only like one type so thought I’d give this one a go as saw them make the marshmallow in house. It was delightful. It contained the ingredients from the Three Kings Cookie mixed with the aforementioned marshmallow and covered in a decadent quality chocolate. Amazing would be an...
Read moreHyggelig is a Norwegian word implying relaxed, enjoyable, cosy & pleasant. And all these are embodied at this little cafe and more. The enticing smell of chocolate hits you as soon as you enter the door from busy Lyons Road. The next thing that hits your is the huge smiles on the staff's face, especially "Mr Chocolate" who I had the pleasure of chatting with during my visit as I wanted to know more about the place, the origins of their chocolates & all the machinery I see in the background. They source, grind & make their chocolates im house including bags of cacao nibs, cooking chocolate, eating chocolate, delicilous baked goods, coffee & specialty hot chocolate drinks. I have tried two hot chocolates here, both single origin, both amazing. I loved learning about the origins & different notes in the smells and taste of these chocolates from "Mr Chocolate". Of course I couldnt help myself but to also try a range of baked goods including cookies, brownie which was delicious with a hint of coffee notes from the cacao nibs, a decadent chocolate caramel cake & a delicious well spiced, moist carrot cake that was light but topped with a layer of chocolate on top. Everything tickled the senses & I loved not only the smell, taste but also the education & appreciation I have in quality chocolate after only two visits. I can't wait to use their products in my baking & going back more for delicious...
Read moreSo good! Lives up to it’s name. The aroma when you walk in makes your mouth water. The staff were really friendly and passionate, and the decor has an earthy, Scandinavian, cosy feel. I tried the house blend hot chocolate and it was so smooth and flavoursome. I thoroughly enjoyed every sip. Most of the chocolate is over 70%, really championing the original flavours of the beans, the way chocolate was meant to be enjoyed. Also really cater for the dairy free crowd with macademia milk (tastes like a rich rocky road in a cup!) and their choc xpressos. I can’t wait to try their choc chip cookie and rocky road later today, although it was hard to pick between their awesome treat selection! Walked out feeling really warm, happy and more...
