Absolutely lives up to the claim of "Best fish and chips in the universe"! We've been loyal patrons of Oceanfoods for over a decade, and the quality has consistently been top-notch. George and his team set a high standard, focusing on quality ingredients without cutting corners. It's refreshing to see a fish and chip shop that uses high-quality ocean perch instead of the cheaper alternatives. The chips are always crispy, perfectly cooked, and remarkably free from excess oil—probably because they change the oil daily. Our family has diverse tastes, and Oceanfoods caters to us all. I switch it up depending on my mood, while my daughters go for the crab claws, fish cocktails, prawn cutlets, potato scallops, and calamari rings. My wife, not usually one for fried food, loves their grilled options like barramundi, lobster mornay, salmon, fresh oysters, salads, and cooked tiger prawns. The dining area is just as impressive, whether you choose to sit outdoors, indoors, or upstairs. The atmosphere is matched by the phenomenal staff, always friendly and ready to surprise us with their culinary creations when we're undecided. My kids have grown so accustomed to the high standards here that dining elsewhere often prompts them to say, "This is not as nice as Oceanfoods”. Kudos to George, Mary, and the entire Oceanfoods team for maintaining such high quality through the years. Well done!

Truly the best Fish and Chips in the Universe. I'll be honest. When I first saw the tagline, I was skeptical. Could this really be the best Fish and Chips in the Universe? Well, as a lifelong Fish and Chips afficionado, I reluctantly have to disagree. It is absolutely NOT the best Fish and Chips in the Universe, but it certainly could possibly be the best Fish and Chips in Sydney. Walk into the shop and you have a wide variety of FRESH seafood to choose from. We ordered a double platter and a grilled fish burger. The double platter did not disappoint, but let me tell you this; if you don't get the grilled fish burger when you're here. You're a fool. That fish was perfectly seared crisp on the outside, yet tender and juicy on the inside. That Turkish bread it was enveloped in, nicely cushioned with lettuce and sauce. Oh it's divine I tell you. If you're in the area, in Sydney CBD or even the Greater Sydney area(whatever that means), you're going to want to go out of your way to come here. You won't regret it. Oh, and don't forget the people. The people that run the place, are amongst the friendliest I've met.

There is a big banner "Best in the universe" - that's a lot to live up to. After today's experience - I'm wondering if they are best in Drummoyne. The restaurant was certainly well patronised - generally a good sign, but that's where it ended. We ordered a combination of battered and grilled fish, salt and pepper calamari, chips, potato scallops and the prawn and avocado salad. All across the menu. We found a good seat and the food was delivered relatively quickly. Especially with a family owned business, you expect a bit more care and attention. There was little evidence of care with the food prepared and delivered. The battered fish was just a greasy blob. The grilled fish lacked any taste. The chips were boring. The salt and pepper calamari - best forgotten. The potato scallops were ok - albeit a bit small. The prawn and avocado salad was prepared with frozen prawns, slivers of avocado all bathed in some kind of oily substance, again - best avoided. Redeeming factors? The seating was nice and clean. The ice-cream dispenser looked appealing. But - I'm just not sure I'll be back to try the ice-cream.

We hadn't been back here for a while as the last visit we didn't think the battered fish was all that, but decided to give it a go again. Ordered a few different options today, a bit over priced..but its Ok.. it was the customer service that was truly a let down. The lemon roast potatoes looked amazing but was drenched in too much lemon that you couldn't even enjoy the dish in it self. We decided to let the waiter know and ask if they cld either swap to something else pls or just refund the amount to us. Whilst the waiter was apologetic, we cld tell the kitchen staff had a more 'too bad too sad' attitude. How about you try the dish urselves b4 serving up to customers who then cant quite consume it!! Abysmal customer service good luck and wont be returning nor recommending.

Getting here and finding parking can be a pain but what’s a little sacrifice for “the best fish and chips in the universe”? Staff are incredibly friendly and nice. I ordered the grilled fish and chips with salad, calamari, and potato scallops. Everything was on the pricey end. The fish and chips was great but I felt that I’ve had the same quality and flavour in a combination of other fish stores in shopping centres, which could get me the same at half the price. The potato scallops are handmade and were great. However, it’s hard to justify $2.30 for one when they’re usually over half the price elsewhere. Overall, this place is lovely and has a good atmosphere but a little on the pricey side for my liking. I don’t think I’ll come back, but it was great to try!

Service was wonderful, but food was quite disappointing. I had high hopes as the store looked wonderful with fresh fish displayed and huge menu. What I ordered was quite pricey for the size/weight. I expected larger, thicker and crunchier calamari rings. I also expected bigger and crunchier potato scallops as they were $2.30 each but they were quite small compared to my experience with other stores. Altogether, was quite soggy but I can appreciate that my meal was not drenched in oil compared to my experience with other stores. Lastly, I was quite inconvenienced by the store not having a garbage can where I could throw out my receipt and other trash — so that’s why I scrunched up my receipt and left it in my takeaway box.
