This was the worst experience in Austria and I do not recommend this place to any families or people looking for friendly service. The host did not make us feel welcome at all and they can only communicate properly in German.
I called in advance to enquire about the price of the (75m2) 1 bedroom appartement listing (which I found on booking.com) and what the price is for a 14 year old child to stay in an extra bed and the price per dog per night. The answer was 200 euro per night including the teenager with extra bed (and 10 euro per dog) and she stated that all her appartments have 2 beds.
When the host received us she made negative comments about my 14 year old daughter being too tall and can't be considered a child, that we also have a 4th person (a baby) and that the dog was drooling (it was a very hot day). As if we were dishonest on the phone when I enquired about the price.
Then also the price wasn't as mentioned on the phone. She put us in the 2 bedroom appartment for 145 euro per night (excluding dog) and stated it is for 4 persons. and that the 100 per night excluded the 45 euro cleaning fee.
When I asked about this in a friendly way, she said that we are with 4 persons regardless of 2 being a baby and teenage child and that we can also choose to leave. (which basically meant she rather have us leave)
I am not sure if there was dishonesty involved or just miscommunication in English, but the lack of friendliness and unprofessional handling made us feel unwelcome. There was a bad vibe and not what you expect in the hospitality sector.
I have stayed in multiple establishments in Tirol and Austria and those were all outstanding...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing. For some reason, there was NOBODY with us in the hotel those 2 days (Alpbach is mostly a skiing resort, and it was summer) and the ENTIRE house was for us. ||||The place was very clean, lovely and had everything you need, though generally, you would have to share the bathroom with the other 3 rooms on the same floor, and also the kitchen-lounge room.||||I would recommend it, absolutely.||||It's run by a woman and his elderly mother, though I have to tell you, the mother doesn't speak ANY english, only German and the daughter speaks little English, so it can be hard at times. In any case, they would anything they can to help you and make you feel at home.||||BTW, Alpbach is one of the loveliest towns...
