I stayed here for 4 nights as part of a skiing trip with friends. We had been booked into Landhaus Haas but were put in Barenbachhof instead on arrival. We paid about €50 pppn including breakfast but I think the actual rate for Barenbachhof may be a bit more. It is a 5 minute walk to the centre of the village and about the same to the lifts, but a bus stops directly outside if you don't want to walk. It is a typical Austrian pension, a hearty breakfast of cheeses, meats, cereals, coffee, fruit etc and simple rooms with all standard extras (30 tv channels, phone, hairdryer etc). We had what they called the apartment which had two twin/double rooms and a shared bathroom & hallway which worked out well for our group. There is also a wellness area with a sauna, whirlpool, steamroom etc. Staff were friendly and efficient and allowed us to use the shower facilities on our departure day after we came back from the slopes. There is also free internet available. The hotel also has a bar. I would stay here again but I had one major gripe about the place - smoke. The reception area and lift lobbys really smoky (even provided an ashtray while you wait for the lift!). This was a big disappointment as we had to buy candles/open windows to freshen up the room. Despite most major European nations now adopting smoking ban, it does not appear to be the case in Austria and this was the big disadvantage of the hotel as the smoke permeated into every room.||All the same, I still think it is a good option for a good value stay in Saalbach, (even more so...

When we came downstairs for dinner and meeting the Danish manager for the first time, we introduced ourselves. He was very rude to us saying we’d not booked half board. We had to argue with him and prove by getting email confirmation from the company we’d booked with in the UK.||So once we’d got over that problem we tried to enjoy the rest of our holiday, only to have him be rude again when we forgot to order our evening meal choices one day. The impression we got for most of the holiday was the season was coming to an end and a lot of the staff really didn’t want to be there anymore. Rooms were very poorly cleaned and not once was the floor in our room brushed or mopped.||The few dining staff that were extra helpful, ended up saving this hotel from...
