La Trattoria — Restaurant in Saalbach-Hinterglemm

We had the worst experience here. While the food was good and the pizza was above average our waiter was ridiculous. From the moment we arrived he seemed offended that we were there (not sure, but maybe because we spoke English). We asked for a table for two and we were seated next to the kitchen (I was literally watching the man doing dishes). There were only 2 other occupied tables in the restaurant so we politely asked if we could sit somewhere more central and our waiter replied “no, it will be very busy. This is the only table for two!” We ordered 2 starters (a soup and a salad), a pizza to share and a bottle of wine. The starters and (warm white) wine came and then we sat waiting for our pizza. Two tables that arrived after came and went and I finally asked if our pizza was coming soon. Our waiter was sent over to explain that we did not order a pizza. When we explained that we did he told us “NO” three times. As in “no, you didn’t order anything but soup and salad!” After a little back and forth he finally conceded that he may have missed it. What a joke! It’s unfortunate because the food was actually quick decent and the atmosphere fun but our waiter was a real a-hole. In the end when we left 1.5 hours later after spending $65 there were still only 5 tables occupied in the main dining room and plenty of room for us to have sat at a table that was not in the kitchen!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this lovely restaurant, and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed! The waitstaff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, providing quick and attentive service that made our experience even better.

The pizza and pasta were absolutely delicious, bursting with flavor and crafted to perfection. It was clear that quality ingredients were used, and each bite was a delight.

I've read reviews that say the service is rude. It's true the service can be a little abrupt, but they managed to accommodate us without a reservation, so we were happy for the service to be efficient.

It was totally worth it, as the food was excellent. Definitely the best Italian food we've had outside of Italy. Very authentic and generous portions too.

Well worth a visit, but definitely make a reservation, as they were very busy every time...
